Opposite sex friendship can work, with the right people. However, the right people will never intrude on a friend’s relationship! There won’t be jealousy. There won’t be the assumption of having a say. Two separate compartments of life.

Another reason I check out a man’s social media. If he is constantly surrounded by PickMes/LVW or keeps in touch with exes, it’s a no from me. Nothing to do with insecurity/jealousy, but everything to do with my own well-being & boundaries. I tried to be the “cool girl” about this in the past, but now it’s an instant dealbreaker. Exes still in his life or female best friends are an instant deal-breaker for me now. I don't care what people say - there is ALWAYS something fishy going on. Always. Every time I ignored my discomfort and tried to be the cool, understanding girlfriend, they were emotionally cheating. Every. Fucking, Time. Talking about their sex lives, running to one another when there were relationship problems (instead of, you know, speaking to their ACTUAL partner), confiding things they wouldn't tell me even after 6 months + of being together, meeting up in secret behind my back and then lying about it... Sounds a bit off, but what I would need to know is how was the overall mood and setting before the face time incident.

However, the OP could arrange a meeting with the three of them, lunch, coffee etc and she would definitely sense it if there's anything fishy going on. "Outside" person sees right away if there's anything going on between two people.
