I’ve always found it fascinating how the patriarchy is simultaneously “all the best chefs are men” and “woman, make me a sandwich”. LVM literally never shut up about how men are better chefs for women. And the cooking industry is full of misogyny, harassment, abuse and sexual violence.

As usual, men like to take over “women’s work” as soon as it’s artistic, fun, an issue of talent, and most importantly, paid.

The actress in this screen cap is Sridevi. She passed away in 2018. She had a long and successful career and was THE BIGGEST movie star in India at one point - not just bollywood but all the South Indian movie industries as well. Only woman to be paid more than her male co-stars. She had a very tragic life! Forced to join the industry and support her family at just 5 years old - her father was a violent ZVM and mother a massive pick-me, they used her for money and abused her constantly (including physical beatings).

I have a former friend who said "why would I want a man in my kitchen" and I've never looked at her the same. At first I was hopeful, thinking she's going to kick the man out and make him cook at his own place, NONONO she invites the man who is not even her husband to live with her, and won't let him go in the kitchen to make food because she's worried he's going to mess it up. And then says that's how she was raised and she's proud to be a doting partner who makes all the food. "That's the woman's job, because he works so hard during the day" 😑😑😑 She loves babies though, and he's definitely a baby

Gordon Ramsey tried doing a whole thing and kept saying “we are going to get women back in the kitchen” Like dude, forreal? Not everyone has a well known cooking channel and world travel like you dude. Plus women hate cooking because they have to cook for ungrateful scrotes who complain all the time.

I'm going to a party next week with some people I did an art project with... The organizer messaged all of us a few minutes ago saying men are in charge of bringing drinks, women are in charge of bringing side dishes. Grinds my gears.

We should employ the same strategy men do when shirking responsibilities, let’s just start doing a really shit job at cooking, and soon enough they’ll just start doing it themselves since they’re “so good” at it.

i’m so glad my siblings and i don’t praise my dad for cooking and cleaning. cooks, cleans and smells good.
