When I started college I met a guy who told me he had a crush on me by the second week of school (we saw each other only in class before then, and once at orientation), and then tried to unload on me about his depression.

I was just shocked.

How could I possibly help someone I don't know, even if for some insane reason I wanted to give him free therapy? For fuck's sake, dude, I have my own problems.

He didn't even go to a therapist, he just stopped wallowing in self pity and improved his life instead of relying on a coddling relationship to bandaid his victim mentality.
