Is that awful statue of hers is still standing? For those not in the loop, a hideous statue of Mary was erected recently and it's ugly and disrespectful. And no, I am not being harsh.

Her whole ethos was young women being educated and they made a statue of her that was ugly and innapropriate.

Of course stuffy old men from history are valorised in civic statues looking noble and authoritarian - FULLY CLOTHED.

It's obvious that men physically look better at 20 than 30. She's right, men are allowed to gain worth outside of their looks and be acknowledged by society and seen as worthy. Women aren't allowed that ability. In fact, many men resent women for being anything more than a submissive breeding stump. If having a personality and knowledge is a benefit to men, it's a detriment to women in a patriarchal society.

I'm French and I'd never heard of "the wall" until I moved to the US recently. It gave me a chuckle since most of my friends are mid-thirties and only just trickling towards marriage and kids. My mom had me at 38 or so. We obviously have plenty of sexism but I will say our actresses for example seem to have careers well past their twenties and thirties; I do think that our intellectual culture gives women a little more leeway to exist in society past 25.

And the average age of childbirth in the US is way lower than France (increased from 21 to 26 for women in the US - 30.8 for France) : "In 2015, more than 52 percent of French newborns had a mother aged between 30 and 39 years."

So yeah, "the wall" is NOT a friggin' thing.

Not only beautifully said, but an excellent point. Before a certain age everyone looks more or less the same regardless of their choices, but the smile lines and forehead creases and crows feet that we’re taught to fear actually do describe what’s underneath.
