A long time ago (and I don't remember the exact context now) I replied to a comment online saying that I didn't have a dick. I got a few confused replies, like "how do you not have a dick?" This was not in some kind of male-only forum. They just literally didn't consider that a woman might be commenting.

It's like that "riddle": "a father and his son get into a car accident and are rushed to the hospital. The son needs surgery and the surgeon, upon seeing the boy, says "I can't operate on this boy, he is my son!" How could this be?" (The mom is a surgeon, that's how.)

This is usually used as a thought experiment to show people's biases - they are confused because they only think of men as surgeons, and can't figure it out. Some people even jump straight to the conclusion that the boy has two fathers. Even some women can't figure it out (LVW or pickmeishas who have been warped by the patriarchy)

Similarly, this crap about "what if [bad thing] happened to your mom, your sister, your girlfriend?" - Why does someone need to have a personal connection to a man for them to matter? Why do we have to frame it this way to make attacks on women matter to men? Why can't they understand that she is a person, just as much are they are, and she deserves respect, dignity, and safety.

Women literally don't even enter into men's thought processes. They barely even consider us people, or if they do, they simply don't care about us at all. Its disgusting. Of course, #notallmen and whatnot - HVM do not treat women this way, but as we all know, HVM are rare, or at least, hard to find, and even harder to find while they're actually single!

Remember this when evaluating dating partners. Does he show signs of this thinking? Maybe even try the surgeon question with him. If he can't figure it out, fucking run. If he doesn't understand the importance and seriousness of #metoo, get out. If he downplays or doesn't care about attacks on women until you re-frame it in relation to him (what if it was his gf, his sister, his mom, etc.), head for the hills. You cannot teach men to consider us people, or equal to them. If they don't already, move on. You can't change him and shouldn't waste your time trying.

A HVM won't make you wonder if he respects women - if he gives you pause, he's not high value. Save yourself the headache and move on. You're worth more than that, and don't you forget it!
