It’s refreshing to see someone WITHOUT plastic surgery. Her nose is a symbol of her ancestry, and keeping it as is honours her family.

If she decides she wants to change it, no one should be trying to influence her decision. I personally would only want one for health reasons, and even then, congestion can be helped by neti pots.

P.S. I have been told a few men my family know have had nose jobs to aid their deviated septums. It hasn’t eased their symptoms and the surgeons haven’t perfected it…

Beauty is subjective as far as features go, but the truth is that health and happiness will always be the most beautiful. That isn't a trend. That'll always be true, and remains true across all cultures.

Beauty TRENDS on the other hand change wildly. And the beauty standard for women is just... conformity. Being submissive to the powers that be. It makes men feel powerful when women scramble to appease them, and it gives pickmes dopamine rushes to be validated at conforming properly. They get uncomfortable when someone refuses to do it. It's "ugly". But only if you're a woman. 🙄

Side note but I wouldn't be surprised if big and/or unique noses became in vouge in the near-ish future. Over Christmas my friend had an 80s movie on and it was super boring but we were all glued to it whenever this actress was on screen because she looked so beautiful and interesting. We finally figured out it's because she had a natural nose (and we just weren't used to seeing that so it was catching our attention). Most of the time all we're ever exposed to is the button nose that everyone buys. It's low key making everyone look the same. So it's a bubble that's going to pop, and more and more people will get bored of it very soon.

It's very possible that this woman will be telling her daughter one day that her nose used to be made fun of and her daughter won't even believe her. My mom can't get over the fact that her body type (petite with a big butt) became "in" because in her youth her body type was made fun of and considered unattractive.

It always horrifies me that there are beauty trends for people's bodies and faces.

Fashion and makeup trends alone change so quickly, leading people to spend huge amounts of money on products and to fret over their appearance.

But the commodification of bodies and features? Leading people to shame or glorify their natural selves depending on the times? And to artificially alter themselves to meet a trend that will likely change within short time? It's incredibly disturbing...

And like they say, you can be the juiciest peach in the world but there will always be someone who hates peaches or would rather oranges.

All this to say, fuck society's ever-changing standards of beauty. I prefer embracing my health and happiness and improving my character and skills. True beauty is far from just skin deep.
