Speaking as a Chinese woman, this is very true. There is deep rooted misogyny in our culture but this is a nugget of wisdom amidst the refuse.

Women bear the brunt of the responsibilities in child-making, even at the cellular level. The ovum is the largest human cell, carried in the woman's body since her early days in her own mother's womb. It contains ample nutrients with which to start a life, and many organelles which the sperm forgoes in favour of mobility. Biologically, it can make sense for a man to "pump and dump" if the offspring will survive without his interventions. For a woman, however, reproduction will always carry a greater weight. It is she who bleeds. It is she who will have her insides rearranged to make space for a growing fetus. It is she who is riddled with hormones. It is she who feels the life grow within her. It is she, who, if she chooses to terminate a pregnancy, feels the loss both emotionally and physically. It is she who must carry and nourish the life that taps directly into her bloodstream to feed upon nutrients unrestricted. It is she who's body undergoes such rapid stretching that she scars. It is she who, even with the best of pregnancies, is in discomfort. It is she who's bones will physically tell the tale of birth (if vaginal- C-sections, while traumatic in their own right, don't leave evidence on the skeleton). It is she who will have her ligaments stretch, who tears, bleeds, and labours to bring forth the child. It is she who risks her own life to bring forth another. Hundreds of women still die in childbirth in developed nations, and many more women lose their lives in nations less lucky. It is she who feeds the child from her own breast. She who makes the wonderous liquid that contains everything needed to not only sustain the newborn's nutrition, but to grow at incredible rates. It is she who gives her calories to the newborn, allowing the child to triple in size.

It is she who must choose who is worthy of her. She holds the key to future generations while we still have the right to choose our own partners. Unless men rape and force women to bear the spawn of such violent seed, women have the choice of who we allow to breed. Choose kindness. Choose intelligence. Choose men who invest in your relationship and child. Choose well.

I've always considered the woman and not the man as the real "head" of the family.

why?

because we always know who the mother is. the mother is always certain - that's the only constant (Latin: mater semper certa est).

and despite all this, despite the fact that a woman's womb carries and nurtures life for 9 months, women take the man's family name and become appropriated to his "herd". it defies logic but it serves male entitlement.

you only have 1 egg and the man has millions of sperms produced every day. sperm is everywhere, thus it's redundant and not rare or valuable. it only makes sense that a woman needs to be extra careful about whose sperm she chooses to associate with.

the idea that a girl needs to be picked (and to become a pick-me, thus twisting herself into a pretzel to garner the attention of a man) is again something introduced by patriarchy to give themselves leeway and freedom to sow their oats and gather as many notches on their bedposts as possible. it not only tries to go against the laws of nature but it perverts the sacredness of conception and of loyalty to one partner.

It's not only being picky for your womb, it's being picky for your own sake, as a person. Every woman deserves to be treated with respect, no matter if she intends to have children or not.

I’m past the age of having any more kids but I do have to say that there was a huge chance I could have had kids with a big time LVM in the past but had miscarried.

I thank the universe profusely and someone up there must be looking out because the man I did have kids with met that criteria. We’re not together anymore as we grew apart but he does the best he can with child support and keeping in touch, thank GOD because out of all the guys I have wasted my time and energy with, he was the best one.

I believe in this so much. The full extent of personality being inheritable is not known but we know there is at least some (and far more than some of us would like to think). This means that having the children of awful people preserves their genes and their negative aspects for another generation. Be very picky over whose children you have and don’t rush into it.

I recently had a dream I turned an oven off by hitting a switch that said “Goodbye!” like a ouija board. I think that’s symbolism for me just turning off my womb forever. 🤣
