Basically. Nowadays even when I'm getting ready to go on a date or go out to maybe meet someone I'm just like "y tho?"
Half the time I cancel my plan, or I just start getting ready late and re-schedule for later in the day.
So much effort for so little payout. It's not exciting anymore when I'm fully aware I'm more likely to be disappointed than not.

That’s me. I make plans and realize how little motivation I actually have to follow through on them. Dating is more exhausting than anything else. I’m struggling to find the point these days for sure.

That’s why I make them work around my schedule. They meet me at my school after dance class when I’m sweaty and still in exercise clothes. Not wearing makeup, of course. They still want me. Probably because the circumstances of the date is living proof that I’m fit and interesting.
Much of the time, though, I’m hoping that they cancel at the last minute or stand me up so that I can go home. They always show up, though, right on time. Thirsty.

Wait. Maybe I’m missing something but that last paragraph... Why go through the trouble of scheduling a date at all if you’re not into it? And why fault them for showing up on time? Isn’t that something we’re looking for? The first paragraph was great. Just confused about the second.

Personally for me, I know what I'm holding out for and the reason I show up to dates when I'm just not into it is because there's that 1% chance that diamond in the rough might actually arrive with flowers in hand, an olympic champion gymnastic tongue, perfect manners but a beast in the sack, wearing a three-piece suit, fresh from his day job doing Something Vaguely Intelligent and finishing volunteer work for the needy, and whisk me away on a lavish date that ends with us barely containing a goodbye kiss, and then going in for seconds before swearing we'll behave ourselves and he admits, no m'lady, I cannot this night! What we share is too precious to destroy with mere lust! I must prove myself to you with an endless onslaught of attentions and gifts to express how I value you! Pedestrians break out into choreographed song and dance as we kiss for the last time, passionately, in a thunderstorm.
Then the real guy shows up and I wake up whoops, that was a mistake

Not to step on anyone's toes, but hadn't there been posts that suggested that we should not be using FDS terminology/phrases outside of this forum? It makes it easier for LVMs to look up this place.
Edit: my apologies. Looks like it's a pretty popular phrase, and used extensively outside of FDS.

I found Hinge appalling. My good friend found her fiance on there but all I got were hookup or “casual” requests. It was humiliating. I started to think it was me but I went on tinder and OKCupid and the difference was significant. Honestly, I met a really kind, respectful guy on tinder. He didn’t even talk about sex until I brought it up. Maybe just in my area.
