My husband cheated on me for eight years. EIGHT YEARS GUYS. I had two children. I almost died during an emergency c section. Our son went to the nicu. He later fought cancer. I was a sahm with no family. My husband watched me scream and cry and express suicidal ideation.

And he never stopped.

ANYWAY I went to college, finished my degree at my sick child’s bedside. I got a part time job.

In this time I emotionally processed and moved forward ALONE, and now that I am fully over it guess who has suddenly changed and wants to fix the relationship?

I was just offered a raise, full time, full benefits and a title promotion. Plus my side hustle teaching at my university.

Men love to say they’ll change once you threaten or go through with a breakup. You don’t want someone you have to change. If the only time he values you is when you are leaving, he doesn’t actually care.

Legit tho. This could even go for women that are equally as terrible... if people don’t want to change, they will forever have issues. It’s the people willing to do self improvement that you need to keep your eyes open for. However it’s better to meet a man who’s not at his early stage and also 100% don’t take care of things he can otherwise you’re basically telling him ‘I don’t actually believe you’re capable’.

Do not shoulder the responsibility of house wife before marriage (at all) especially if he hasn’t shown he’s husband material. If you’re already at the point where you do live together; you are now glorified roommates who equally share the house/yard work. That way no one is using anyone and you don’t create expectations on each other’s ‘roles’.

A woman shouldn’t be obligated to give all of these things. It’s one thing in a serious partnership to give support, but it’s a two way street. Just because you show support doesn’t mean there is no potential that everything is all snuggles and rainbows. These can be used as manipulation tactics.
