People judge themselves by their intentions. Others judge them by their actions.

I've dated too many men with good intentions but little follow through. It's not fun, and it seems to be a common theme. Intentions mean nothing and lead to nothing but frustration.

For example, my last two exes would make comments about little chores or repairs they'd do around my house to help me out. I'd always express my appreciation that they'd undertake that task for me. Then they'd never get around to doing it. Then I'd get annoyed. I'd have to point out that they could have just kept their mouths shut to begin with and not even offered. It was worse for them to say "oh, I'll do X!" and then just never do it.

Wow I could have written that as late as yesterday! I never realized that yes that is just the bare minimum- it's not an achievement. I'm a feminist in my 50s. Whoa I have been brainwashed.

I have to say I stay home and do basically everything in our home and care for our daughter. Post photos constantly because family is far away. EVERY SINGLE TIME MY HUSBAND IS IN A PHOTO EVEN TANGENTIALLY I get to hear “oh what a good daddy” or “oh I bet she adores him”. WTAF? I am the one up at 2am with her, I’m the one that nursed for 15 months and lost part of my right boob, I’m the one who takes her to the doctor and wipes the skinned knees...but fuck me right? Right?

All that to say, why is what I do somehow unnoticed? My husband is a good man and a loving father, but he’s Army and works 16 hour days 6-7 days a week on a special assignment so we almost never see him. Not that he’s a POS.
