It’s only when people feel irreplaceable in your life that they start disrespecting you. They take your time and energy for granted and the only reason the nonchalance continues is because you allow it. In 2021, walk away from situations and people that don’t serve you. You don’t owe anyone anything, especially people who have shown they don’t deserve your goodwill.

This whole post highlights exactly why I left my bf (early 20s) a couple of days ago after putting up with crap on and off for 2 years. Break ups are fucking shit and yes I am incredibly sad, but I know it’s what needed to be done so I can have the life I deserve. Found out the next day that my “best friend” had actually reached out to my ex and talked to him all day and even encouraged him to sleep around/rebound before even messaging me back and seeing how I was. Ended that 3 year long friendship immediately and with that my other friends have taken her side. This week has been shit but gosh I’m also quietly relieved. I’d rather be alone and rebuild my social life than put up with shit like that. 2021 is the year I don’t put up with bs from anyone.

Women also need to stop letting men set the tone for the relationship. My problem wasn’t so much putting up with poor behavior (though I definitely did), as always wondering how he felt or wanting him to feel a certain way for me. I’d always say “I want him to...” instead of focusing on what I wanted. What I should have done was just walk away from men who weren’t meeting my energy or who seemed ambivalent toward me. It’s such a shitty feeling to have relationships where you’re more invested than they are, and that goes for friendships too.
