Alright y'all. I've seen a lot of questions on every relationship sub about "my state is locked down and we can't go out, what should we do for a date?" "My boyfriend isn't responding to me, I'm worried he has Covid19, what should I do?" "He asked me to come for dinner on our first date, is that ok?" "I went out and the guy started coughing during our date, could I have coronavirus?"
Just stop dating. Seriously. No HVM is going to want to go on a date right now. They will hunker down.
As a (poor) example: Jack and Rose on Titanic didn't go on romantic dates while the ship was sinking. They tried to escape. They did that drunk jig in 3rd class while the ship was upright. Their love story had already started before the ship started going glug-glug-glug. They weren't saying "hmm, they're cute. Let's have a ship disaster romance." They weren't saying "well E deck has an pool table, maybe we can do that later tonight." Nooooo. They were focused on the problem at hand and weren't trying to get their rocks off when things got bad. (I dislike the movie for other reasons but that's a whole different post.)
Even in established relationships, you should be hunkering down. If you don't live together, your HVM should be checking on you, asking if you have what you need, should be trying to send you toilet paper and soup cans on amazon, should be playing online games with you. They should NOT be saying "uh, I think the park is still open. AMC theater is still open! Wanna go?"
They will look out for you, their families, and themselves. It isn't romantic to meet now. It's fucking dangerous. You're not getting a wonderful love story; you're exposing yourself and loved ones to potential pathogens.
Anyone willing to risk it right now either 1) doesn't understand or believe medical science; 2) doesn't care about your health, just wants to get in your pants; 3) doesn't care about their own health, which is bad; or 4) has a callous disregard for people in at-risk communities (ie boomer remover jokes). Do any of those people sound like HVM? No. They don't.
Wait it out.
Edit: forgot about the "he isn't messaging me, what should I do?" Obviously we don't keep harassing him. If he is sick, he will try to keep you from worrying. He will let you know what's going on. He isn't gonna say "hey babe, got a cough." And then radio silence for days. That's abusive behavior IMHO. I know that's an FDS basic but especially true right now. If he isn't messaging you now, when you're both in lockdown, he doesn't want you/wants you only when he can get something.
