Question about realistically implementing the FDS criteria: I'm all for building up self-esteem, aiming high and trimming the weeds and baggage from our lives. I also think settling does a disservice to both parties involved; but where exactly does one draw the line between "compromise" and "settling"?

For example, I'm an ambitious person myself and have been fortunate to work hard and achieve well professionally. I value that quality in a partner, but many men who are my level of ambitious also come with arrogance and selfishness, which I absolutely would not be able to sustain a relationship with. One man I'm talking to currently is the definition of HV in how he conducts himself (with all people, not just me), and is relatively ambitious (software engineer, doing well), functioning adult (cooks, works out) but he's not gonna be the type of person to make waves.

Would this be considered "settling" or "compromise"? What is the difference between them? are there any HV couples who truly love every single thing about the partner? Nothing annoys them, or could use improvement?
