This is why I block on social media...or just don't friend or follow them unless I'm pretty sure of where things are going.
I don't want to have any spark of feeling coming back up by seeing his tiny little profile picture show up in the views...I'm not good enough for a relationship with him, but I'm good enough to hold onto virtually and watch from a distance? Sounds like a version of mate guarding in a way. Boy, bye.

Why do they do this?

This. I wanna know too.

Stories auto-play, at least for me. When I click on one, they keep playing until I back out to the feed.

Boredom

It’s power trip. They can come and go as they please and you’ll be smitten regardless.

I feel attacked

This is true. I’m ready to date again and meet someone new, it’s been 8 months and I’m healed. I’ll start dating again when quarantine ends

Exactly. Move on because he’s going to lie to others and say he’s the victim anyways

I’m not always the best at blocking numbers, but any guy I’ve been involved with romantically and it did not work out is getting blocked from my social media instantly. It just sucks constantly thinking “what will he thinks of this” every time you post...nah, sis.

Yep, if he hasn't reached out for more than 3 days, I delete him off everything. That usually sends a pretty strong message, and they don't reach out anymore.

*but you should, "focus on you" instead obsessing over the guy who ghosted you but continues to watch your instastory.
Just my little tweak.

Lmao as of this year I’ve created a new rule where I won’t add a guy I’m dating on social media unless we get into an actual, official relationship. Prevents shit like this from happening, and also keeps me from lurking and trying to see what he’s up to, if he’s dating others or if he ghosts.
That, or you can just delete him. Social media kills and leads to unhealthy obsession — “Omg he’s watching all my stories what does it mean,” Who are these two girls he just followed” etc. etc.

It's me. I needed to hear this, lol. Been in my feelings about a boy who ghosted me in 2018, last time I was living/working in the States. Since I've been home, he's started liking my Insta posts now and again and watching my stories. After he ghosted me. And I still think about him sometimes and kinda miss him. Sigh.

Just wanted to say- it happens. I had been feeling the same way actually also about someone from 2018. I find the best thing to do when this comes up is to treat thoughts about that person as an internal trigger for yourself. Make that the automatic trigger for you to redirect to something useful. Whenever you catch yourself thinking that way, say “oh now I’m going to walk the dog to clear my head” or “time for 10 push ups” or “I’m going to go clean the sink/do the dishes” It redirects that mental energy to something waaaaay more useful. And people that ghost are worth absolutely NONE of your time. There is a 1000xs better out there. Don’t beat yourself up for feeling feelings (that’s totally normal), but do use them as a kind of catalyst for healthier behavior (you get to decide what that is).

I used to do this back in my pickmeisha days, then I decided to level up and block them. Out of sight out of mind.

what do you ladies think about this?
got in a relationship and blocked him, became single and we had a hook up. during that hook up he added me on the only social media platform i have and my drunk ass allowed it. But i'm completely turned off by him again. He watches literally every single thing I post on social media. Def want to block again, for good, but i know the texts will come, emails, icloud msgs. It's happened before. I do not respond to his texts or social media stalking. This Guy literally always finds a way to be... available (annoying to me now).
i had to laugh out loud when i saw this post. why are nvm, lvm, ALL THE SAME.
*EDIT - blocked but would still love your thoughts on WHY guys DO THIS SHIT. :)

No idea but it's not our problem. If I decide I'm out. I'm out on every single platform and I do it before 8am so they cant contact me through any other means. They wake up and that's that.

let me get to blocking on emails then, because this guy NEVER gets it. You are right, not our problem. I'm still working on letting that part be what it is.
Thank you QUEEN.

Guys do it because they are narcissistic assholes.
One guy I texted from OLD, followed me even after I broke things off. My IG stories wasn’t on private and he msged happy birthday. 🤮
The Pickmeisha I was planned dates with him and he consistently canceled last minute saying “Oops, sorry... I’ll make it up to you”. I let him string me along 1 month... until I noticed all his social media posts were selfies no group shots. All his followers were curvier girls like me within my area. The only official accounts he followed was Tinder and Bumble — Thirst trap.
I feel bad to all those other girls he’s been collecting... it’s manipulative and calculated. I see his profile on OLD and just imagine the endless girls he’s talking to but never committing.

He sounds like a leeching ass vampire. Like my ex. But it’s not your problem or concern to feel bad for the women who haven’t leveled up as you are doing.
