My lovely fiancé has never cared about height. I don’t think he even knows what his height is. I’m 5’9 and I would say he is 5’8. Over the years people (mainly other males) have joked “she’s taller than you!” “I can’t believe she’s taller than you!” or a variation. He will literally just look baffled as to why it’s been brought up. They can sit him down, gather around and give an entire speech about our 1 inch as they get so frustrated at his lack of reaction and he still genuinely just doesn’t feel anything. I’ve realised now that most guys are so insecure they even care about height on other couples. Yuck. Humility is so sexy!

My dad STILL insists that he's 6'0. I'm 5'5 and hes literally only an inch taller than me if even that. We're so close in height. I've been around a dude who's actually around 6'0. He towers over me but whenever he's on the phone talking to some girl he's like "maybe you should get remeasured cuz you're almost my height and I'm 6'0." I got measured a couple weeks before quarantine and they said I was 5'5 and a quarter. I have not grown since freshman year. It's just embarrassing at this point.

As a 5'10.5" woman, this is the bane of my existence. Luckily I met my current boyfriend at my last job, and he is truly 6'3" as he claims. Other men I've met online who were claiming to be 6 feet were really 5'9" when we met in person. Such a disappointment. I always say to take whatever height a man claims online and subtract at least two inches, and that's his true height. Why can't they just be honest?

My ex was 5'9 tops, claiming to be 6'. I didn't even meet him on a dating website. We were already dating when he claimed to be 6'. I'm 5'6 and I was as tall as him in two-inch heels. He's the one who pointed it out. I put on my heels and he immediately said "oh no you're too tall, you're gonna be taller than me" and he was propping himself very straight as I just laughed and didn't care. Bro... I can't even walk in two-inch heels, there's no way I'm standing on six-inches right now. But I'm so trusting I didn't question it. I was like "cool cool 6' impressive".

I'm fascinated by all the men telling women they're taller than they are, too. I thought all these men knew they weren't 6ft and were openly lying, but maybe they really just how no idea how long a foot is, how tall people are? But then, that makes it such a weird thing to base all their pride on!

When I go on a date with a guy who claims anything under 6 feet, I'm wearing heels, at least 3 inches. I'm 5'10". Yes, it's a preference to be with a man that I don't tower over. I've learned, if they say 5'11", they are 5'9".

It's the fact that it's the FIRST LIE. I've met many men who are shorter than me in real life that I would totally date. But, online, it's just the First Lie.

I've honestly never given two shits about a man's height, but deliberate lying about it would just look desperate and insecure. I never even gave men's height a second thought until I came to Reddit and saw so many men complaining about women only dating men over six foot tall, and I was like, sheesh, I'm 5'4" and my ex-husband was 5'8" and I thought he was precisely the right size (abusive monster, but the right size).

I never dated anyone much taller either, either before marriage or after my divorce, until I got with my current guy who is 6'3". If I could have my way about it, if everything else stayed the same, I'd 100% shrink him down to 5'8". I mean, he's almost an entire foot taller than me and I hate it. I used to have to climb a couple of stairs to kiss him goodnight when we were dating, and he always feels far away from me when we walk anywhere. Not only is his head way above me, but his legs are so long that he either has to walk really slow or I have to walk really fast to keep up.

I used to try to reassure the men on Reddit about their heights by explaining all this, and I was shocked at how angry and accusatory they got. They'd say, "Clearly you left the short guy for the tall guy," and it was like, nope, my ex was abusive and also turned out to be gay AND was the one who left me. Then they'd say, "Well why did you look for a tall guy if you like short guys so much? Why are you with a tall guy?" Well gee, I met him online and never even knew his height until we met three months later. His height was a liability to me but I was already really into his personality.

I'm 5'8 and so many dudes will still claim to be anywhere from 5'10 to over 6 feet tall even when they're standing right in front of me and they're clearly shorter than me (or the same height). I never say anything but if they bring it up I'm usually like "Oh, I must actually be 6 feet tall then" and that ends it.

I'm 5'4, the amount of men who claim i must be wrong about my height and that i am 5'7-5'8 is huge. My dad is a 6'3 and i get to his shoulder/slightly above his shoulder.

My boyfriend is a 6'2 and i get just slightly over his shoulder and he's towering me. I remember i met a truly 6' man once and he was towering over me.

All the men i've met lied about their height saying they're 5'10-6' when truly they were 2-3 inches shorter than they said they are. One went as far and lied about 5.5 inches thinking i wouldn't notice.

I always get told that i am very tall so when i was 12 i told people i was 5'4 and when i was 18 i told people i was 5'7.5 until i got measured 4 months ago just to find out that i am....5'4 and that when i was 12 i was 5'2.
