Me too. When my dad had to braid my hair it hurt so much and it was ugly. I couldn't complain because he'd get all butthurt like "I'm doing my best, it's impossible to do with big fingers, don't be so mean".

This is cute but I hope he is doing more around the house, for her, his child, and generally pulling his weight. Too often men are total LVM but then they do something cute like this and women just lose it. Keep your wits about you ladies! Cute, loving, and helpful gestures like this should be the norm, not the exception.

🤦♀️ Could the bar get any lower for men. This is the last place I should expect to see this crap. Please stop it. Stop calling men HV for simply doing normal shit. You are perpetuating the problem. I have zero personal interest in trains, sports, fashion, or reptiles but these things were important to my kids so like any normal, halfway decent parent I took them on a real train, learned all of the rules of soccer and researched associated head injury risk, learned how to sew and found a second hand machine, and created a mini rainforest for a chameleon in our living room. Learning to braid hair? Lol.

The express purpose of this group is to uplift WOMEN. "Balance" is literally not a part of it. Read the rules. Things posted here should be for the benefit of WOMEN. This doesn't do that. Additionally, its actually a fucking put down to all the mothers out there (on Mother's Day weekend no less) who do this shit day in and day out with zero respect or recognition. This is not the place for praising men. This post supports a culture of devaluing the work that women do.

Dear, it is benefitting women by incorporating positive examples that this kind of behaviour exists even if you haven't had the chance to encounter it, as a reason why one must never lower the standards. When women are subjected only to negative examples and negative rethoric that "all men are shit/scrotes" it balances the narrative and gives hopefulness to show HV behaviour as a reminder that this kind of actions/behaviours do exist and to expect that kind of actions/behaviours and not settle for less. That's my take ofc. Where i live is not mother's day, sorry if I triggered you in some way.

If a man doing it is HV and a woman doing it isn't, you aren't "balancing" anything though. You are perpetuating the imbalance. Yes, pretend I'm "triggered" if you must but stop perpetuating the idea that men doing basic shit is HV. It's not and this harms women and children.

I do however think that some of the things women post as high value traits are not that at all. They are baseline good manners and proper etiquette. Yes, they are positive signs but not actually indications that a man may be HV. The bar is so horribly low that women are excited about and praising men for doing the bare minimum. I think it's important to keep their behavior in perspective.

Most of the society (including many of us, unfortunately) is unknowingly biased towards men, lauding every smallest thing they do. The bar is down in hell. So I wouldn't be happy if we added to this "let's praise the men about the bare minimum" movement. For me it feels opposite to this sub's values.

I get where you’re coming from, but I also understand the frustration of the person you replied to.
How often do mothers get praised for knowing how to do absolutely everything for their boys? Hair, dressing, sports...moms do it. There’s even soccer moms and hockey moms. There’s an expectation that mothers know everything and do everything for both genders, but men are “teehee so cute and vulnerable” when they do for their daughters what mothers have been doing for their sons for ages.
Female children are given baby dolls to care for and pressured to be a good parent to both genders. Men have almost zero expectations when it comes to parenting. If they’re not deadbeats, they’re praised.
It’s frustrating to pat men on the back for doing the bare minimum in an unfair system they created that benefits them.

There is literally no difference between this guy learning to braid because his daughter asked him and your guy learning to braid because you asked him. He didn't learn because he suddenly saw women as human. He learned because he was asked but he doesn't know how. Your boyfriend learned because he was asked but didn't know how.
