And I decided to spend it alone instead of allowing low value men/family to ruin my special day. I have had a few guys ask to take me out and treat me for dinner/take me out/spend the night. And though it’s tempting.. even though I’m in a new city, not in contact with my family, and did not have any real plans for my birthday, I still said no to them.

They were butt hurt. They have no clue I said no to them only to spend my weekend to myself. But I knew that the only reason they offered is because they know that this is a memorable day, and whatever bullshit they would do on this day would be 20x harder to forget. I’ve heard so many stories of women having their birthdays ruined by men who put no/low effort in for their birthdays only to make them feel worthless.

And I have had this happen to me a few times. Even though I’m not really sure what I want to do, I feel so powerful knowing that I can surround myself with abundance and pleasure. Today I put myself through a nice workout, listened to the Rich Dad Poor Dad Audiobook, and got dressed up very nicely and bought myself a drink. Of course people stared and tried to cat call, but I paid no mind.

Years ago I would’ve spiraled into a bad mental health comma for not having anyone to celebrate with. The codependent in me would have said yes to any and everyone in order not to feel alone. But tonight, I am thankful that I don’t have anyone mentally, physically, and emotionally abusing me in exchange for 2 hours of fun 😁
