I went though the report Reset Australia has on their site. Archive link if you want to check it out yourself.

The TL:DR is any content that offer's criticism of feminism is the content they suggest to be egregious.

They use some spree-killers as examples of the "escalation of violence" against women.

Jordan Peterson is prominently named.

Reference to "sigma males" (never seen that one before) and Sargon of Akkad (specifically the rape threats in 2019)

I checked out at that point as it seems to be the same old song and dance after that point. Seems very cherry picked and more of a study to validate the predetermined conclusion.

Reference to "sigma males" (never seen that one before)

I had to look this up because it sounded comical. But it's actually a reference to strong and independent men who don't need no woman.

It probably comes from the pill ideologies so who knows what kind of baggage it has. But it's kind of ironic that they deem "strong and independent men breaking free from gender norms" to be offensive when we've been talking about this for women for literally decades now. It might be one of the most feminist things to come out of the "manosphere". And they still don't like it.

Sigma male is used as a joke online, when dudes just mind their own business or totally ignore women - especially if a woman is pulling a thirst trap or is playing helpless to get men to do work for them.

It's probably considered the most insulting when Sheldon Cooper types don't fall for it. They're considered physically average and socially incompetent, yet they find the idea of romantic relationships or hooking up at best abhorrent (for themselves). So they end up never thirsty.

You mean the not-rape threats.

“This is yet another example of the business model of big tech placing profit ahead of safety – women’s safety,” said Reset board director Catriona Wallace. “We need to urgently put in place regulation that forces social media platforms to be transparent about the risks of their algorithms and redesign how they promote content so that they align with the feminist futures we want to create.”

"We"?

Censorship should be one of the default tags. Increasingly we are seeing demands for anti-male government censorship.

[–]gratis_eekhoorn 52 points53 points54 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

her narrative sounds scarier than the narrative of the so called "manosphere" honestly

[–][deleted] 51 points52 points53 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yeah that is one disturbing quote.

She could have just called for more transparency about the algorithms. Instead she is calling for them to be put to use for her own ideological viewpoint.

[–]rammo123 33 points34 points35 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Saying the quiet bit out loud. You can object to an algo promoting extremist content, but to suggest that it must be forced to promote content in the other direction is scary.

[–]Deadlocked02 19 points20 points21 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yep. That’s what I thought. Granted, I know that the bar for what constitutes “hate speech” for the likes of her is very low, but I wouldn’t be so worried if she was only talking about algorithms and radicalization. Instead, she wants censorship so she can promote her own ideology and is not afraid to admit it.

Is it just me or does this sound like, really cult-like? I have nothing against fixing Youtube's algorithm so men looking for self-help advice don't end up on Think Before You Sleep videos, but that last part really shows thier true intentions... I wonder how they define "manosphere content"?

[–]Zinziberruderalis[S] 20 points21 points22 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Pretty sure it includes this place.

[–]Peptocoptr 19 points20 points21 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I figured... Well fuck. We need a back-up plan for something like this, don't we? Or else we're gonna have to invade menslib, and NOBODY wants that.

[–]Zinziberruderalis[S] 14 points15 points16 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Special operation to liberate menslib from feminist collaborators.

[–]Blauwpetjevalued LWMA contributor 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

That would be like liberating the Nazi party from antisemites.

[–]Peptocoptr 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The "how" is a more important question than the "why" in this case. How are we supposed to do that without being vilainized?

[–]Peptocoptr 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Don't know how you plan on doing that, or if it's even the ideal move to make...

[–]MostEpicRedditor 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Sounds good. I'll bring the Z stickers

[–]Nachtlicht_left-wing male advocate 18 points19 points20 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I have always seen an issue in these algorithms because they might recommend feminist videos. I was not mistaken. Yet another example how feminism is the most dangerous ideology of our age.

[–]BloomingBrains 13 points14 points15 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It seems to be that they are just automatically associating "anti-feminist" with "incel" and "manosphere". As if there were never any married or liberal men who argue against feminists, and the only possible reason a guy could "hate women" enough to do that would be if they rejected him. Never mind the abundance of counter-examples out there...

The truth is, the anti-feminist position is actually the most liberal. Same with incels, if we're talking about the legitimate "perpetually single" type and not the 4chan kind that is. Most of them express liberal values, and it makes sense to do so, because they themselves are often non-traditional in the scheme of society's acceptable list of male gender roles.

In fact this idea that most incels are far-right strikes me as so bizarre because conservatives hate them too.

[–]Zinziberruderalis[S] 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Incels are an inconvenient truth.

[–]MazerTag 26 points27 points28 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I'm generally a peaceful guy, but if someone used the slur 'incel' in my presence, i would probably have a violent reaction.

I can't even imagine how the world would react if major corporations started talking about how they need to censor all of the 'sluts' on social media, or whatever insulting feminine slur is equivalent.

[–]Valoxity-_- 15 points16 points17 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

A verbally violent reaction? If it happened to be I might become a bit frustrated or mad, but id ofc try to hide it so they dont pull “you are mad so it must be true” spiel.

[–]matrixislife 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I just block anyone who I see using it.

[–]austin101123 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

What do you mean by violent?

[–]MazerTag 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What do you mean by mean?
