Lol. That cat has a huge "fuck you" face. Give it a can of tuna or something.

Catnip works better
[–]vector56335 points6 points7 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
My fucking cats can take a bath I'm catnip with zero effect. Those little fuckers are catnip resistant. Tried all different types of nip with zero effect.
[–]Makonar1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
if you live in the US (or some parts of europe), try the toys or catnip by Yeowww! - it's amazing how great of an affect it has on cats - it's unbelievable. If you are in UK or have access try toys from Silvervine made by Rosewood pet products. Silvervine is Japanese equivalent of catnip, only it is said to be much more potent. Both, yeowww! and silvervine toys are amazing, basic catnip toys have no affect on my cats either, but those will do the trick. Also you can try valerian drops, they also have an euphoric effect in cats.

Try some black olives...
[–]Jackoffalltrades890 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Have you tried growing your own? I don’t own a cat, but most of the stuff I’ve seen in passing in stores looks like dollar store oregano, wouldn’t be surprised if it’s old and lost its potency from sitting on the shelf for a while.
[–]novhaku0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Did you try to dry it? As far as I remember catnip is a lot more effective once it's dried.

[–]Sajuck-Khar21 points22 points23 points 7 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
Had two cats. They are totally like all the gfs I had. Entitled, demanding and think they own the place, but the reason I love cats is for those hilarious moments you see in all those cat videos. Silliest creatures out there. Plus fighting with them is actually fun even if you end up bleeding.
[–]1fastIrocZ4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Get some welding gloves to wear when you fight with them, no more bleeding.
[–]gevalher2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
You don't play with bare hands with cats the way one plays with dogs... Try some sticks with string on the end and some bright feathers on the end of the string and let them try to catch the feathers... you won't bleed that way.
[–]Sajuck-Khar1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
No fun if there's no danger. Otherwise I could just cut her nails. The fun is worth the blood.
[–]gevalher-1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Maybe yo had fun, but you are terrorizing the cat. It's like the bullies in school. Hey they have fun, but the victim(s) is/are terrorized and hurt!
[–]Sajuck-Khar1 point 7 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
If I would be terrorizing it, it would run away. Not like I'm holding her. We are both just having fun. Relax animal lovers, no cats were injured in the production of this post lol...

Cats play the entitled bitch part so much better than women
[–]sillekram2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
The only difference is that a cat is loyal! That's why cats are so Superior to women.
[–]Sajuck-Khar0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
As long as you feed them... Pretty much the same loyalty as chicks. Soon as someone else starts feeding them the loyalty switches. If you are looking for loyalty then get a dog.
[–]anannab151 points52 points53 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
He looks pissed off. It's normal.
Honestly, just ignore him completely. Do your own thing.
They get used to you with time.
They're like women. Ignore a cat and they just get more curious about you and then just start hanging around.
Maybe get him some toys as well.
Treat him good, mate.
[–]Aashami[S] 22 points23 points24 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I know, so far he’s doing alright.
[–]FaragesWig3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Put food down, change his litter trays, do his water. Ignore. He'll turn up in a few days asking to be petted and asking for lap cuddles. Cats are easy.
I have 3 elderly cats, a 20 year old, and 2 x 14 year olds. I don't bother them at all, I let em come to me when they need company. At least once a day each cat comes for pets and snugs. One cat on the bed, the other two sleep downstairs. We got a good arrangement going, I don't fuck with em unless needed, they don't bother me most the time.
[–]HaywoodJablomie35 points36 points37 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Love cats. Less than one year of my entire life when I did not have one. I have 3 little beasts right now, all born to the same litter. They’re going to be 13 in about a week.
Cats are the ultimate GYOW animal. Do what they want, when they want, how ever the hell they want to do it while exerting the minimal effort required.

Cats are great. I'd love to have a dog but I can't properly support and care for one right now. (Funny that I choose not to have a life that I can't properly care for huh? )
[–]anannab17 points8 points9 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
A dog is great for a man.
But they're a real responsibility.
It's great you're a dog person, but it's even better you know you can't properly take care of one right now.
Keep moving forward, mate. Keep doing things right. You'll deserve a dog someday.
[–]Aashami[S] 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I plan on getting one of both.
[–]DeadShot9121 points22 points23 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I just rescued my first cat in January. Grew up with dogs and always thought cats were for girls. Man was I wrong. Cats are like your best bro that don’t ask for much and do their own thing when they’re not around. No pressure, just good times. Dogs are like clingy girlfriends; no matter how long of a day you had when you walk in the door they DEMAND attention and work lol.
[–]anannab124 points25 points26 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Ha. I had a siamese male once. Total MGTOW. Total badass.
And the biggest pussy magnet. Girls just loved him.
Kept him at a kennel for a few weeks while getting moved in to a new city. There was a girls dance school right next door and they liked to come by to see the cats and dogs.
He was a favorite. I remember coming in once to visit him and he was perched on some cute chick's shoulder. He just looked at me and went, "Oh, it's you."
The chick said, "Oh, we just love kittychad so much, He's so needy".
Needy my ass. That cat just knew how to get girls to adore him. A natural.
Fucker. Miss that guy.
[–]Dootdootdoo6665 points6 points7 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Having a pet cat changes your life, and then you feel guilty for having misjudged then this whole time. They are extremely emotionally intelligent, and they are just like ppl with their pettiness and jealousy. I adore them, but it wasn't always this way.
[–]novhaku0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
That's IMO one of the main difference between the two and why I like cats better: cats will only obey if they want to. So they have to respect you, and if they obey, it means that you really did a great job at educating them. A cat is more or less closer to a roommate or a friend compared to a dog, its individuality comes first to him.. They are smart and will not accept your shit if you go too far and don't respect them. It's a different way of bonding, in a good way.
[–]TigPlaze26 points27 points28 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]BertTheWelder15 points16 points17 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Be kind, affectionate, and gentle to the little guy. He will end up sleeping next to you, sitting on your lap, and loving the hell out of you. That’s what I’ve always done, and I’ve never had an aloof cat. They’re great little creatures. While I like dogs, I can leave a cat alone for 3 or 4 days with no issues. They’re the most practical furry pet. Very cute cat!
[–]Aashami[S] 5 points6 points7 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I’m pretty damn excited about this cat, thanks for the advice.
[–]novhaku0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Yeah, I always find it funny when people complain that all of their cats are aloof. Even my most antisocial cat is affectionate. You just have to take care of him. I think that the problem is that when a lot of people say that they "have a cat", it just means that there's a cat in their house and they don't spend time with them/play with them/whatever outside of feeding them. If you go through your day as if the little boy didn't exist, of course he'll end up cold and distant. I've never had a cat that wasn't affectionate or that I couldn't carry, another big no according to a lot of people, and it's mainly because I consider them family membes so they're not "just there" like a plant would be.
[–]BertTheWelder1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Absolutely! Cats are very smart and they can tell if you think of them like a family member or like a houseplant. If they aren’t important to you, you won’t be important to them.
Nice to know others out there also treat their cats so well.
[–]jonathino00110 points11 points12 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I've noticed that whether someone is a dog person or not depends on personal taste. If you're more of an outdoor person, or you just prefer how dogs are...
But when it comes to cats, it's all about your experiences with them. People who don't like cats often cite how you'll be petting them and they'll be happy, and then the next moment they scratch the shit out of you. Your experiences with cats are going to change depending on how good you are at reading them. There are certain things they like and certain things they don't. If you haven't already I'd do some research on how to read your cat, and treat it right. The better you treat your cat, the better it'll treat you.

If you just got him or her give the cat a few days to get use to you. Mine hid behind the furnace for two days then started to hang out around me. Two weeks later she was all over me wanting attention and sleeping with me.
[–]JihadNinjaCowboy4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
My cat fucks with me, and I fuck with him back. Loud or freaky noises murder his calm.
Fun trick: set the alarm on the cellphone and set the alarm to something horrible, like a zombie scream or such, then hide the phone next to him and leave the room.
I usually do make it up to him later, by giving him some tuna so he doesn't sulk.
Lol

[–]nosoupforyou2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Give him time. He just needs to get used to you. Might take a week or so but he'll be coming to visit with you regularly.
When I got mine, he hid under a chair for the first week, only coming out for food. Now he comes to find me if I'm not in bed, to try to get me to follow him to bed so he can cuddle there with me.

Let's hire women by giving them crack money to fill up the courts with ridiculous shit. So that the court will finally see women as the savages that they are. So that judges become sexist against women instead of men. Even though it has very little to do with a cat.

Handsome fellow! I've had cats for years, and find them to be excellent companions. It takes time to understand them, but once a strong bond it formed, they can be extremely loyal pets. My current cat is a Flame Point Siamese that is nine years old, and without a doubt is my best buddy. He follows me everywhere in the house, sleeps next to me, and eagerly greets me at the door when I return home from errands.
When I was young, I despised cats, as I lived next door to a quintessential "crazy cat lady". Her house smelled like cat crap, and her cats were outright mean. Years later, I ended up rescuing a neighbors cat from abuse one night after her kicked her out of his apartment (neighbor was a severe alcoholic). I took her in, and once she realized I wasn't going to hurt her, she became very affectionate and trusting. I came to realize that my old neighbor simply didn't care for her cats properly, or show dominance, so they did as they pleased.
I've had a cat ever since I rescued my first twenty years ago. I highly recommend reading all you can on feline behavior, as I learned a lot by doing so. Forming a strong bond with your cat at a young age goes a long way. I've never had an aloof cat, and have found most negative stereotypes are just that. Though I like dogs too, I have come to prefer cats, as they require very little maintenance, and can be just as loyal and obedient if one puts in the effort. My cat always comes when called, and responds to quite a few commands. They are very intelligent animals.

[–]sickdrupaler1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah - but this is the best kind of plantation. The look mean. Act mean sometimes but are playful as hell and are good companion animals. I'm not a dog guy... I work long hours and wouldn't be able to properly care for one (walks and what not). And to be honest, it's the only kind of pussy that I'll allow to persuade me :)

How do cat owners stop the overwhelming smell of cat litter boxes in their houses? Every time I visit cat friends’ houses, it reeks of cat piss and litter box. My dog fiends’ houses don’t have this problem.
[–]FaragesWig0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The only real way is to keep it totally clean, a cat uses it, clean. Mine are in the understairs cupboard with the door wedged open.
Problem is, to me they don't smell. To anyone else, they probably reek. I don't really care though,I can't smell em, doesn't bother the cats, so fuck it.
