THIS. There are cases where women say they will right up until the day of marriage when they still have not signed. The man then says they wont go through with the marriage. And then the women signs "under duress". If she doesnt sign a month before the marriage. Call it off. Or actually why the fuck are you even trying to marry? MGTOW

Apparently the court of law doesn’t know the difference between corrosion and an ultimatum

A prenup can be canceled by a judge at any given moment, just in case you fellas did not know.
[–]User0x00G10 points11 points12 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Yes cancellation is possible, but surely their should be some legal way to make it painful to do so...such as an arbitration clause that fixes jurisdiction in Utqiagvik Alaska and specifies that both parties agree that Inupiat tribal law will govern all aspects of the arbitration if any clause of the agreement is ruled invalid...and that contesting the arbitration clause or the entire agreement would constitute a renunciation of US Citizenship depriving that party of standing to file suit in any US Court.
I'm sure a devious attorney could create some hellish nightmare of a contract that would delay things for decades.
Still not worth the risk, but certainly worth considering for someone who has decided to take the path of financial destruction anyway.
[–]armed_renegade2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
US Citizenship depriving that party of standing to file suit in any US Court.
This is just wrong. https://www.quora.com/Can-a-non-US-citizen-sue-a-US-citizen (Yes Quora I know oooh scary, but still the answers are nonetheless accurate)
would constitute a renunciation of US Citizenship
How? There's no legal precedent for this, not to mention the issue of being made stateless, which the US government can't do.
[–]User0x00G4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Feel free to have an attorney construct one without the deficiencies if you wish. The point was that contracts can be constructed in such a way that they are very time-consuming and costly to contest. The specifics of how it is done are probably legal advice that you have to pay for. If corporations can accomplish it and make their contracts difficult to get set aside then the option is possible.
[–]TekatoZikame4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Nothing surprises me anymore about judges and (ironically) their lack of judgement, especially after US police officer was charged with felony murder today/yesterday for shooting a guy who beat up two cops and stole cop's taser trying to use it against them in the process.
[–]Unfigured17 points18 points19 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Not only this, but I doubt there's a way to make your prenup future-proof when women are the majority of voters. As soon as a safe way to make a pre-nup is found, feminists will lobby to get the laws changed so it isn't safe anymore. This is a major concern for feminists because it's a major concern for women.
They want a) total shame-free control over anything that goes into or comes out of their pussies and b) control over the resources of their chosen beta-provider in perpetuity without any responsibility or obligation to him in return. These are key psychological drives for women.
So pre-nups are something you can guarantee feminists are constantly attacking. And successfully attacking, since women will support those attacks with their votes no matter how they might scoff at 'mansplaining' and 'manspreading' and 'man-hating feminists'.
If men took all the money they were going to spend on a wedding, honeymoon, wife-pleasingly unaffordable house and subsequent divorce-rape, and donated it instead to whichever company is making the most progress in developing robots we would probably already have our robot waifus.

No this man was out in good time and she didnt sign it, probably trying to wait til last minute. He wasnt having it and they ended up breaking up. He knows they can get tossed if its not signed in good times.

Prenups are worthless.
If you know a contract is no defence then the only value of that prenup is as camouflage for what you're really doing to protect your assets.
[–]Sir_manalot47 points48 points49 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
It means she doesn’t love him.
She wanted to leave after X years
[–][deleted] 23 points24 points25 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Indeed. If she thought it was forever, she would have signed. That tells you she planned to divorce in the future. Planned it, before the wedding.

I agree, but this angle doesn't take into account the one who is assuming the risk. In this case, the man has all the assets so he's just making sure. The woman seems to be the one who was looking for the out, seeing as she wouldn't sign the agreement. I think this was just a classic case of the woman hedging her bets. If she marries this guy and eventually wants out, it at least won't be a waste for her cuz she can come out with half his stuff. When that option is apparently off the table for her, I'm guessing the torrent of men on her facebook/instagram/etc came rushing to her mind, and she probably just figured that her time was better spent on one of those who are pretty likely to be less cautious and keep the financial option of divorce open to her.
[–]womeninkitchens36 points37 points38 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
The man is a successful entrepreneur that helps dogs, and has a beer and pizza establishment for fun. Financial independence reveals a big part of person's character. This man is based, there is no doubt about it.

She was a stupid a** ho* who didn't know she just have to stick it for a couple of years before the court would dismiss the prenup, so it was kinda lucky for him that she didn't sign it and he had the balls to then leave because of it
[–]aniani0417 points18 points19 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women naturally expect their marriage to fall apart. They don't trust men enough naturally to accept that we are worth more than security, protection, and procreation. She prefers to stay home, raise children, and not work for a long time. Her income potential is lost and her brain cannot allow her to accept a deal that will require her to go back to her pre-marriage lifestyle in the event her husband bounces, ie actually working to ear/save money. To a woman, a man is not forever, but his financial commitment to her MUST be.
[–]Chakra_Devourer30 points31 points32 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Even though her commitment to him is not. Even when she does commit to him, it's conditional. Yeah, fuck that. A very, very, very bad deal.

[–]rocko2000264 points65 points66 points 6 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

[–]FanofLemmy44 points45 points46 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

[–]QueenSlapFight15 points16 points17 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
A person saying "trust me" is pretty much code for "I am untrustworthy". I'm true to my word and the thought of having to try to convince someone of that never even crosses my mind. Those who lie will actively make a point to try to tell you how they're not a liar because they know they are.
[–]Nuclearrussian743 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Women should learn the saying "trust, but verify".
[–]Prototype_Grendel1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

He dodged a bullet indeed, because his ex-fiancee was a level stupider than her parasitic peers.
Prenups are worthless in court, because a woman can easily claim, that she was coerced to sign the prenup.
Liberal judges will toss it without any thought.
Women live life in our society without any negative repercussions for their actions whatsoever.
A prenup is playing Russian Roulette for 6 turns with 5 loaded bullets instead of 6. You still get your brain blown out. It only means, that you have a 1/6 chance to last two turns.

What a great way to celebrate his grandfather. The world would be a better place if more men celebrated their close male role models.
[–]womeninkitchens10 points11 points12 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
By getting close male role models you get something that is hard to put into words. To know that someone wants the best for you and loves you for who you are as a man. It has no price. Life is not always easy, but having this connection to someone bridges the gaps. I do my best to be this person to my younger brothers.

If he had gotten her to sign it, it would have been "under duress" and she felt "forced to sign it when she wanted to renegotiate it".
I'm surprised she didn't and texted or emailed some evidence that she felt forced into it.
[–]QueenSlapFight23 points24 points25 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
It always amuses me how a prenuptial contract can be nullified by the woman claiming duress, but that somehow doesn't nullify the resulting marriage contract the man signed under false pretenses.

same reason that if a woman drinks a beer a week ago she was raped last night.
or the law that says that if you show an interest in marrying a girl and she has sex with you, then that's rape because you might have wanted to marry her, and she would never give up her chastity to just any man.

She obviously listened to her friends who told her to make it an ultimatum. What these women think is there's just an infinite amount of wealthy available bachelors lining up to sacrifice everything they have for some random wall-approaching THOT. I hear it all the time in conversation, in the media, and social media. All I have to say is good luck with that! Men are waking up to their value and more and more are unwilling to have they're lives repurposed to simply by an accessory and a wallet for since random woman. It's refreshing to see.

They think just cause a wedding is set & paid for, sunk cost fallacy will trigger and we’ll just accept them not signing the pre-nup. Men don’t care about a wedding, and certainly not to the point that women do. I would much rather lose 100k paying for a wedding that never occurs over signing away all my assets.

Yup stick to your guns even if she changes her mind. Last minute prenup signings are viewed by the courts as signing UNDER DURESS - which voids them
Actually DONT GET MARRIED AT ALL
None of these women are virtuous women. They are all running double digit body counts - triple digit if they went to college and majored in ANYTHING other than S.T.E.M
In my case I am looking to have more children and have resolved that anymore (outside of the one I have with the ex-wife) will be a surrogate with a woman who lives abroad - I will NEVER marry so she cant use the court system against me.
I have friends who have children with Peruvian and Filipino women who remain in THEIR homelands and visit USA (with their kids) every few months. These friends travel to see their children twice a year and pay something like 1500 to 2500 a month for their maintainance (agreement with their baby mothers)
ALSO
They had the kids DNA tested after birth to confirm paternity

Note that marriage is just a set of terms of a contract that are implied. You can sign a contract for all of the parts you DO want instead of a prenup that pulls out all of the parts you DON'T want. The difference is the non-prenup contracts are enforceable, while prenups are routinely thrown out.
Here's what the marriage contract says:
No one would ever sign such a contract. But if you really want it, keep the parts you like and toss out the parts you don't and add in any others, with the knowledge that slavery was abolished and everything you add will likely be tossed out. Both of you can sign the contract and TA DA, you're married. Don't sign a marriage certificate and don't stand in front of a justice of the peace or minister.
And do not think a prenup will do anything for you.

Is a prenup just an American thing or is it world wide? I am trying to learn a thing or 2 from you guys
[–]MeagoDK0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Most countries have it. In America its worthless because the judge can just toss it. Sometimes it helps you but if it does, the women was probably not insane.
[–]Kooky_Air2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Same in Australia,it's toilet paper. Plus we have country wide De Facto laws (Common Law marriage) after 2 years cohabitation.
[–]CollapseOfTheWest0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I think some countries have a rule that you keep everything you brought into the marriage upon divorce, which might obviate some of the need for a prenuptial. This is definitely not the case in "community property" jurisdictions in the USA, and is effectively not the case in every "common law" jurisdiction I've ever heard of where the marriage lasts more than a year or two.
IANAL, etc., but I do try to get an understanding of this stuff.
