No surprise, as studies have proven the double standard that things condemned as "creepy" when men do it are dismissed as flirty when women do it

This is partly why I can't take it seriously when people complain about "objectification" and "sexual entitlement" and harassment as if they're gender specific things men need to stop doing to women. Women probably do it just as much. The difference is that men who do it are told that they're a menace, and women are told things like "it's cool what you are doing"

I'm glad that at least some people are calling her out. Though she certainly still has more upvotes and supportive comments than a man would have gotten

[–]JTethras16 points 7 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

This is very true, I think it should be taken very seriously for men and women. This is just plain creepy guy or girl. No one should be tricked in to sexual situations or objectified and violated like this, you know?

I think the girl that posted this should be ashamed & called out for the fact that she's probably only doing this because she doesn't have a guy wanting to willingly get naked for her. She's a bad person. I'd think the same if it were a guy posting this.

I think it's just highlighted more when guys do it because as you said there's an unfair double standard.

[–]grandmasbroach 3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Also, it is only sexual harassment if the guy isn't attractive. If say, channing Tatum could do it and get away with it. It isn't sexual harassment.

I just had this talk with one of my girlfriends friends she had over. The topic of sexual harassment and assault came up. I simply explained a hypothetical situation and used a description of a creep. Then, I used the same exact scenario, but inserted a celebrity I knew she thought was hot. So, I asked her if he did it, would it still be harassment? She said, well no. Then I asked why it was in one instance, but not in the other, and, how is the guy supposed to know this ahead of time? She had no answer at all and said you just know if it is harassment. Oh, so it being harassment or not is based on your current emotional state and feelings? To which she responded, I guess so.

Let that sink in. She admits, and sees zero issue or problem in looking at this issue in that way. It is fucking absurd.

[–]skepticalbob 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

All of the top comments aren’t saying it’s cool. It’s exactly the opposite of what you are claiming.

[–]Thaurane 3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You also replied 14 hours after after he commented and this was posted. It could have easily been brigaded by us or similar subreddits. Even the username should have been censored.

[–]chadwickofwv 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Though she certainly still has more upvotes and supportive comments than a man would have gotten

She could have written anything at all and this would still be true.

[–]chambertlo 48 points49 points50 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ew, she sounds gross and just like a sexual predator.

[–]juanml82 25 points26 points27 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

If there is a double standard, it's because the modern puritan discourse infantilizes women and refuse to see them as sexual beings - not because it discriminates men.

Nobody would read this and think "OMG, men are victims of this woman" because we all understand men are capable of making their own choices regarding their own sexuality and whatever reasons they had to agree with this, they are they own reasons.

Puritanism, however, refuses to set the same standard for adult women. The answer to this double standard isn't to make society infantilize men, but to reject the idea that grown women are, by default, poor damsels in distress unable to make choices about their own sexuality. It wouldn't promote men's rights or interests to be treated as people unable to make their own choices.

[+]JTethras1 points 7 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

I agree with what you are saying here but this girl isn't asking these guys to get naked so she can drool over them. She stated she convinces them by lying about wanting to pose for her art. She's manipulating a situation and violating their trust - like a sexual predator. So the decision they are making is based on false information. Or am I reading this situation wrong?

[–]juanml82 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No but let's not think of adults like idiots. We all know there is a sexual component in being asked to strip naked in front of a person of the opposite sex and, what's more, in private.

[–]WoodChucking 8 points9 points10 points 7 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

I had a old girlfriend (I've been married for 15+ years now, so this was a long time back...) who always wanted to draw me nude.

She didn't want me to model, tho. Just be nekkid while doing whatever it was I was going to be doing anyway.

Since my default state at home is sans clothing anyway this worked out fine.

So there are several sketches out there of me sitting in my office chair, feet up, surfing the web while naked.

[–]Elkubik 8 points9 points10 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

unzips

It'll do.

[–]downundergoldbon 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

zip

Nope. But that'll do.

[–]PowerToAnnihilate 5 points6 points7 points 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

See but that's a girlfriend and is perfectly normal.

She also asked. This lady is just a weirdo.

[–]WoodChucking 6 points7 points8 points 7 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link

This woman also asked. From what we see above, there is no indication that anyone was viewed nude without their consent.

I'm not really seeing the distinction you're making.

[+]transoceanicdeath1 points 7 years ago [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link

because it was under the pretense that it was for artistic or academic reasons or out of necessity. it wasn't explained that she merely wanted to see them naked for her own personal fantasies or whatever

if a doctor convinced you to come in for a physical just so he could see you naked, would you think anything was wrong with that

[–]grainagw 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

False comparison. The doctor benefits from this either way, and you pay him. In this instance, the artist pays the models. So, if someone wants to hire me to do a job because it secretly turns him on, I wouldn't care. I'd happily take the money.

Also, let's not infantilize people. These were adults, responsible for their own actions. If some flattery is all it takes for you to take your pants off, that's your problem.

[–]Wolfeh2012 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

just that they were random people she knew and she seemed to be less interested in drawing them than ogling them.

IDK you are right.

are any for sale?

[–]goodmod[M] 16 points17 points18 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Although it's a good post, its title does not say enough about its subject. This forces people to click and read before they can decide whether they are interested. It also makes searching impossible.

If everyone did this, the subreddit would become unusable.

So please don't do it. Take the time to describe your link, and save the time of hundreds of other people.

When making a title, it's best to assume the reader doesn't know what you're talking about - but don't go overboard with every detail. Then check if there are any words you can cut out without losing any important information.

[–]PowerToAnnihilate 13 points14 points15 points 7 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Its kinda creepy anyways... and the men are dumb for just stripping for her too lol

[+]AstralMango1 points 7 years ago [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, man. In this day and age, women are sneaky fuckers and everyone needs to ask themselves, "Why is she telling me to do this questionable action?"

[–]skepticalbob 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

All women?

[–]chadwickofwv 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

In this day and age....

[–]Lethn 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is what gets me to be honest, yes, it's an atrocious double standard, but equally. I have to wonder about the kind of man that would subject himself to that treatment just to get laid. I do think a lot of men have issues with self-respect when it comes to this sort of thing.

That woman conning all those men on tinder for example immediately springs to mind, there were still dumb fuckers that actually stuck around thinking they might have a chance.

[–]DenseMahatma -1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I mean if she "convinces" them that it is for her art, and they are not forced into it, I don't see a problem really. Its their bodies and if they feel comfortable modelling nude for this artist and they want to, then they should. If she was forcing them into it, then it would be a problem.

[+]theJigmeister1 points 7 years ago [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link

Rape by coercion is a thing, I don’t see how this is any different

[–]DenseMahatma -2 points-1 points0 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Rape by coercion is when emotional abuse or trickery or pressure is used to make someone have sex with you. Let us not become those people that call everything rape, she is not having sex with them, therefore it cannot be classified as rape. She is, however, using trickery to get to see them nude, but that becomes very murky waters legally.

[–]theJigmeister0 points 7 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Oh I’m not calling this rape by coercion, my point is just that if the legal system is going to draw that distinction, I think this should fall under it. It’s trickery to get guys naked and ogle them, at the very least, under current legal definitions, it should be sexual harassment.

[–]McGauth925 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There's a lot more to this than simply the fact that the same behavior for men and women is judged differently. It will be judged differently for as long as men want to benefit and enrich primarily their own offspring, JUST AS WOMEN DO. For millennia upon millennia, the only way men could believe a child was his own was to restrict the sexual freedom of women.

Now, we CAN know for certain. And women, in general, want to prevent that as much as possible for their own benefit.

Really, in the end, people want equality only where it benefits themselves.

[–]NerdyWeightLifter 3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

A man doing that is in fact a subplot of the movie Titanic; a movie that women seem to find romantic, despite all the men dying.

[–]Subhajit_Halder 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

i am gonna post the same confession pretending to be a man who wanted to see his friends (who were girls ) naked. Let's see what happens.

please keep us updated

[–]Subhajit_Halder 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Someone did this before me ! Please check that out... He got very less attention ..

[+]starkimarki1 points 7 years ago [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link

As a young man I was asked to model nude by a somewhat unattractive female friend of a very attractive female friend.

Did it. Was used quite thoroughly for sexual pleasure by the artist. I assumed that it was par for the course, in fact I was surprised she actually drew the picture first!

Attractive friend was not attracted by my sacrifice.

[–]skepticalbob 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

How were you used for sexual pleasure? What happened?

[–]Redditor005050 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's ok she has a vagiana between her legs

[–]thwml 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Disgusting. That's all that needs to be said.

[–]Cwmcwm 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I see nothing wrong with this. I (male) asked girlfriends the same. I didn’t ask female friends, but whatever. It doesn’t cost anything to ask.

[–]202700000000 8 points9 points10 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Probably every artist in the history of art has convinced someone to pose nude for them.

[–]anotherdayofthis2 points 7 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Please post nudes for me

[–]davou 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

eh, I don't think this is terribly bad no matter the genders. AS long as the only coercion going on is "I love art and I think you're pretty" Hobies are great, seeing naked people is great, and adults have agency over their choices.

This is a solid scheme that seems to not be hurting anyone. Good for her.

[+]deville05 -9 points-8 points-7 points 7 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Not really. .. I mean getting someone nude is the purpose of life. It's fine girl do you. And guys if you do this.. you cool too. Just make sure you improve on your life drawing skills

Also it's probably a joke. You guys take everything too seriously. Just liken feminists

[–]Lethn 5 points6 points7 points 7 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

You haven't checked out what feminists really believe about men have you?

[–]deville05 -5 points-4 points-3 points 7 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

You are talking about a very small minority of feminists. And no not all who belong to one group have the same damn thinking on everything.

Anyways I'm not a feminist and I don't care if this girl likes to get male models to get naked to draw. Everyone who is getting anyone naked to pose in front of them has some sort of sexual thoughts in their head. If 2hat she is doing is wrong then if the sexes are reversed, it's wrong too. And I don't believe that it's wrong either way.

[–]Lethn 8 points9 points10 points 7 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Either this 'minority' has a disproportionate amount of influence over society that they don't deserve and you should be doing something about it. Or this group of feminists is far larger than you actually realise and you don't know what you're talking about.

Nobody cares whether they're drawing naked models, you completely missed the point, as do most people who hop onto this sub without a fucking clue. The issue is the double standard and it's about how the girls doing this are treated totally normally and the men are treated like they're potential predators.

[–]deville05 -1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Show me the double standard when it comes to this. Either ways the double standard expressed is by again a few people in the grand scheme of things

[–]LeafFallGround 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

The double standard is that one is considered rapey while another is considered clever. The only difference between the two is the genders. Lethn's point was only that the big eye popper around this sub is how women get praised for many things that would be considered sexually aggressive if done by men. I understand what you meant though.

[–]deville05 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Considered rapey by who? I get what you are saying but I haven't come across an equally inconsequential example or the same scenario. Perhaps there are people who would claim that as creepy no doubt, but I think that's just a very small percentage of people on the internet. My other point was that the person who wrote that statment might just also be joking. Another point was that we shouldn't get hung up on things like this and make an issue out of it because then we are just like the people we dislike.

[–]LeafFallGround 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Are you just talking about art modeling as a specific scenario? I would agree with you if that were the case because I don't hear about art modeling, obviously. But a double standard with men being rapey and women being innocent after doing the same thing is just a pretty common idea these days. I mean look at all these teacher/student relationships these days. The male teachers are rapists, judicially charged and can never work again. The women go on leave (maybe even paid) and are back at work by the next semester or year

[–]deville05 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yes.. something comparable. Raping students is a whole another serious scenario. And yes there is a discrepancy in the outcome of it when it comes to genders. But that is also due to the historical trajectory of the sexes and the crimes they commit. I think when enough cases emerge of evil women, our outlook will also change

[–]LeafFallGround 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The severity of a scenario doesn't make anything that less of a double stand though. The same could be said about custody battles, domestic violence, working conditions and so on. I don't really agree with the idea that "when enough cases emerge of evil women, our outlook will also change". I get there's still a background in history which forms a variety of views on different sexes. But we're at a point where everyone is supposed to have equal opportunities with the exception of certain cases that outline discrimination but that is never going to completely disappear but even that is still out of the norm. Why would people fight for the different sexes to have the same opportunities and exclude punishments from that list?
