You’re missing the key ingredient: people don’t value men. They simply do not care. Equality means whatever feminists decide they want to change. They build the inequality with careful framing and intentionally biased data around the goal and then serve it to the public who has empathy for one sex and indifference towards the other.

I think men are willing to make sacrifices for the benefit of women without really thinking much of it or keeping score. Women’s wellbeing is prioritized. Men’s suffering is sorta tolerated and accepted.

In Mexico, every day there are 100 men murdered and 10 women murdered, but you never hear about men in the news, yet the feminists make marches and demand more funding for their feminist movements every time a young woman dies.

The idea essentially is this:

1) Bring up "Femicide" more and more in casual discussion, get people used to hearing the term
2) Hyper inflate the number of "Femicide" cases there are
3) Demand that men who commit "Femicide" are punished more severely than for standard "Murder"
4) Proclaim every single instance of a man killing a woman is a "Femicide"

End goal, men get sent to prison for longer for killing a woman and every single instance of a woman dying is labeled as a "Femicide"

If a man happens to run into a woman who walks out on the street without looking and she dies? FEMICIDE!
If a woman breaks into a mans house trying to rob it to get money for her drug habit and he shoots her and she dies? FEMICIDE!

The ultimate goal is to make it appear as though every single time a woman is killed it is explicitly because of her gender and that is the aggravating factor
Nothing else matters to them.

Now... imagine going to the doctor for colon cancer:

Not so much matter of better or worse, it's what grabs folks attention and interest, and the media generally feeds / panders to that ... cute little white girl gets abducted ... all over the news - for days or even more. Black boy abducted ... uhm, have we ever even seen that reported on the news? Well, hardly, if at all. How many go watch the movie or TV special about some abducted white girl? Yeah, lots. Similar story about a black boy? Uhm ...

So, things often don't get the levels of attention relative to their badness/wrongness. Oft the story of the one person gets way more attention than the story of hundreds or thousands harmed, murdered, or tortured. Compare how many killed, injured, tortured, captured daily in war - and how much daily reporting on that, vs. how much media and public (they feed off each other) attention to various individual stories of single person events.

You have to remember, when a woman is murdered it's because she's a woman and is otherwise innocent. When a man is murdered it's because he deserves it, not because of his sex and he's certainly not innocent. Something something, the patriarchy hurts men too. Something something, women are more valuable and more important, but I'm trying desperately to find a way to convey that without saying it directly because then I'll admit I think men are sub human and disposable.

They see it as men are mostly murdered by men. So if men don't want to be murdered by men, men should stop murdering men. But most women are murdered by men, can't help being murdered by men,* so if men wanted to stop murdering women, they would.

So men can and should just stop murdering and stop other men from murdering. Then there wouldn't be any murder. And if we just put women in charge they'd...Oh Jesus. My head hurts.

*Which is why they should be in the infantry because they'd be just as good front line troops as men because gender is just a social construct.

The argument is this: There are different factors that aggravate the punishment someone gets for murdering someone. There's first, second and third degree murder, manslaughter and so on. There is a feminist push that power structures identified as patriarchy should become one of these factors that play into the evaluation of a killing. Under these new rules a woman being killed by someone that has this kind of power over her should fall under so called "Femicide". There were attempts to establish it in Switzerland where I live but direct democracy prevented it.

Yes. This is very literally what they believe.

If an equal and fair society wanted to treat homicide with a gendered element in a special way it would be written in gender neutral terms and added as an consideration under homicide legislation. e.g.; "Was the victims gender an important aspect in this homicide?" This law would naturally cover gendered violence in proportion to it's existence and therefore achieves the 'stated aims' of activists who pushed for femicide.

They don't want that. The only reason to create a new category like "femicide" is so that it can be treated differently from regular homicide without nay interpretative framework. In this case, it's because they want harsher penalties, special consideration, biased data collection. They want "man kills women" to automatically be gender based violence regardless of the circumstances.

First of all, it is treated as more important. Not only in the "open dialogue", which can be subjective. Many legal systems treat this murder as worse than the opposite murder, that means, that they give a harsher sentence. Many jurisdictions also provide protections for the women in danger of extreme violence (legal protections for the child, monetary support, shelters etc.) which are not available to men.

Statistics are also doctored:

Deaths by proxy (i.e. the woman employing a third party to do the dirty deed) are never mentioned.
Murders of children by the mother (which is also a form of Family-Violence) are not calculated
Deaths by suicide of an abused husband are not calculated.

Your minor confusion:

If a man gets killed by another man it's usually outside of a IPV system (Intra-Partner-Violence). It does not make it less serious, but generally speaking IPV has specific characteristics and is treated as such. In IPV systems, research shows that men and women can be equally physically violent statistically (generally 1/4 of cases is the woman violent, 1/4 is the man and the other 50% are both). However in this statistic of horror, women end up with more bodily harm - death. This is a statistical fact, but it means nothing about the men who suffer, who should not be ignored.

If we add other forms of abuse (financial, coercion, etc) I don't have any research, but I have the feeling that women will be more often perpetrators. But it does not matter, we care to protect the victims, not to run a competition about who has it worse.

It is a statistical fact that men are more often victims of murder (and victims of suicide). Nonetheless, in some of those cases, they have been involved in questionable behaviour (football fan fights, bar fights, small criminal activity etc). That is also affecting the public perception, as there is the aspect of... "he was looking for it", compared to a woman who is brutally killed by her abusive husband. Now the question may arise... how did that guy ended up being a small-time-crook? but these are small letters in a society where virtue signalling is so important.

Yes, you are. What most people are differentiating is not the sex of the victim, but the circumstances of the murder. If one family member gets drunk and kills another family member over a trivial argument people are going to be more sympathetic to the victim than if one drug dealer shoots another drug dealer who is on their turf. This is completely natural and I would argue justified.

The mistake people make is to try to argue about this based only on total numbers; yes, lots more men get murdered but many of them are also criminals that nobody will miss except their mothers. Most women that are murdered are not criminals and have never been arrested in their life so it’s easier to present them as a group deserving sympathy. If you want to counter the feminist argument to focus on women’s deaths you have to come with facts about the number of men that are in fact purely victims. Beware of percentages; 34% of female victims are murdered by their partner vs only 6% of male victims. That makes it sound like a huge disparity, but turn it back into absolute numbers and it’s 1000 women vs 600 men. Because so many more men are murdered you can be misled. IPV and specifically murder does have more female victims, but nowhere near the extreme that people imagine.

One thing I wonder about is how feminists will react if we actually do successfully address all causes of murder. Right now the US is in an unusual situation where the overall rate of murder is falling, but because of the special attention to women the proportion of the victims who are women is also falling. This is not the natural pattern. Look at a very violent country like Colombia , only about 7% of victims are women. But when you eliminate almost all murders, like in Singapore, what you get is a 50/50 split of murders. So what’s going to happen when they realize that although murder rates are still falling the proportion of women is now going up as it inevitably must.
