Well- she is right. Sons are less likely to get higher education and more likely to get substance abuse issues. This (and more examples like this) is exactly why we are here arguing for mens rights. Because so many men get neglected in society.

If I get kids I will pray for daughters too- because as a parent I want my kids to have the best life and the most options possible.

Where me and her disagree is that I want to make my kids lives as great as possible she wants her kids to make her life as great as possible.

How sad is it that she views her kids as a resource to exploit?

[–]Coffeecup7[S] 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

Yeah but how do I counter her? Like what reply should I give? I want her to feel that daughters and sons are equal. She said she is thankful because she was hoping for daughter and she got daughter. If she had got a son she would be depressed. And daughters are > sons. So I want to explain to her that its the exact same mentality feminists fight against had it been a preference for son. She gave me this reason in reply

[–]Standard-Broccoli107 17 points18 points19 points 3 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

You wont convince her. There is no "magic phrase" that will get through a lifetime of sexism. What we need to hope for is that the next generation is more egalitarian.

[–]Coffeecup7[S] 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

So I just stay quiet? And let her take the win to be correct that daughters are better then sons and you should feel bad if you have had a son?

[–]Standard-Broccoli107 10 points11 points12 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Most people understand that having the last word dont make you right. Continue arguing if you enjoy it, but know that it wont change her mind.

[–]Coffeecup7[S] 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Cool. Wont reply

[–]critical_Bat 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Sadly that female superiority attitude is common in education and higher education.

You could ask her if certain races of men were “worse” than others.

[–]denisc9918 11 points12 points13 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Mate you're not going to convince anyone with a mind like that of anything... That mentality is not a win.

You win by not engaging with that, only harm will come to you.

[–]Ferbuggity 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Wise as ever, denis... I absolutely agree.

[–]denisc9918 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I really hope the next gens will forgo the toxic concepts of modern feminism. Well they more likely than not will corrupt politics and civilizations always fade in time no government or civilization is eternal. It's always evolving it's just at this time it's a shithole society in western nations for men sadly.

[–]sumar 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Everything that she said maybe statistically it is true, but not because men are evil and stupid, it's because society left them to struggle, on top of that blame them for everything. And her hatred (any many like her) is just adding gas to the fire. But, if I were you, I wouldn't even think to have a debate, she seems not capable to see the real problem.

[–]decentish36 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She sees children as statistics. There’s no convincing her.

[–]Net_Flux3 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

It's good that she doesn't have a son. She'd probably rape and abuse him if she did have one. We've had multiple such cases coming up recently about these misandrists doing just that.

[–]ReniaTycoon 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What a weirdo being depressed if she were to have a son. In my heart sons and daughters are equal. How anyone can think otherwise is so foreign a mindset I cannot understand. Well since she is a feminist that dislikes men I'm glad she did not have a son she'd use him as a workhorse and he'd do all the hard heavy lifting work while the daughter and her screwed off doing gentle work in the home or whatever.

[–]DaJosuave 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She pulled those stats out of her trashcan, just find good research you will likely see many of her "stats" are wrong.

Female supremacism is a thing.

[–]WhyIamLegend 9 points10 points11 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

These people seem to say that having son and men in general is useless but they seem to forget that everything from the time they get up and look out of the window everything was built by men. I would say men had made the entire world we live in today.

[–]Throning 9 points10 points11 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

As a general thing?

Replace any of their instances of "men" with "blacks" or "jews" or "asians", and it would no question appear that this person would be aggressively racist. Which brings to point that this person is aggressively sexist against men.

Tearing it down point by point?

Violent crime is committed by both genders; incidence rate is admittedly higher from men, but that doesn't mean women aren't capable. There have been several female serial killers and plenty of women involved, in some form, with organized crime, that the argument on numbers and incidence rate loses a lot of it's value. I would actually expect any further discussion on this point from them to revolve around gendered incidence of victimhood, while denying that a plain majority of violent crimes are indeed committed by men, but also target and make victims out of other men more than they do target or make victims out of women.

Rape as a talking point is exactly the kind of thing where a significant amount of court law explicitly defines rape as vaginal penetration with a penis - without much if any equality in the law to recognize forced-to-penetrate cases as legal rape in those jurisdictions. This offers implicit, systematic bias that basically makes their argument irrelevant. If a law passed that said All Women Must Wear Dresses, it'd be implicit, systematic bias because that law would only legislate women's attire, even if there would be 99% of cases of women breaking that law.

On prisoners, it would also be worth pointing out that even when a man and a woman would commit the same crime, men typically get sentenced to harsher punishments. For really no other reason than they are men. This contributes to there being more men in prison, as a general statement, because they are serving longer sentences from the jump.

On mass shootings, they are still relatively "new" crimes that a lot of them are still being analyzed and discussed. The easiest answer is mental health issues, but neither pointing out the most common/nearly exclusive aspect that men commit them, or pointing out the biggest factor is mental health, actually does anything to solve the issue. It's a repetition of the argument/point about rape - just in mass shooting form.

On schools, there is enough argument to be made that too much of the education system is set up to be anti-male; how many boys are diagnosed as ADHD and put on pills? How much of education asks boys to do very not-boy-like behavior? Has this person actually seen the economy and how tough it is to make ends meet that might prevent or discourage men from going to college, or having pressure to drop out simply because they can't afford to stay enrolled or don't want to commit to crippling student debt?

On addicts, I know more women who enjoy smoking marijuana to addict levels and deny that they have a problem than I do men; so if it's an argument over anecdotal bullshit, that's all that really amounts to. Nevermind the rising numbers of women turning to alcohol and there being entire articles pointing out rising women being teetotalers and binge drinkers to the point of alcoholism. Seems a bit ignorant to just say "all men are smokers, addicts, and drunks", when rising amounts of women are too.

Care giving is it's own thing where this person seems incredibly unaware of how screwed the health care system is. And with men's general work ethic, and expectation to provide for themselves and their families, that most men can't just cut hours to take care of granny - or that if they would, it'd risk putting themselves or their families in poverty to do it. Families do a lot for each other, but I'm not sure this person actually hears or understands their argument from a masculine perspective, and is only making an appeal to emotion to sound like they have some moral high ground.

The summary at the end just wraps it up but leaves none of the points actually given the attention or care they deserve, it doesn't offer solutions or even leave the floor open for discussion or rebuttal, it doesn't offer anything than a convenient pat-on-their-own-back and "look I did good didn't I?" to themselves.

[–]neighborhoodpainter 18 points19 points20 points 3 years ago* (12 children) | Copy Link

"99% of rapists are men". Based on government stats, yes. According to CDC stats, no. Because, you know, many states and countries don't recognize female on male rape, as well as there's a significant number of under-reporting.

"There are way more male prisoners than female prisoners". Sure, but you also have to be aware that women are more likely to avoid jail and prison compared to men and men receive 60% or more prison sentencing compared to women for the same crime or similar criminal histories.

"Men are performing worse in schools and college" - probably because there's been a massive push to get women into higher education, therefore leaving men to fall behind i.e. there's a lot more resources for women compared to men now. But funny how she doesn't realize this even though she mentioned, "men have been hogging all the resources". Now it's the opposite. Even then, men still make up the majority of graduates when it comes to useful degrees i.e. STEM degrees. Despite there being a massive push to get more women into STEM, there's still not as many compared to men.

"More female caregivers than male caregivers" - Sure, and this is a difference between the genders. Men are more into things, women are more into people. Women are more likely to go into people based professions. This is also a reason why men are more likely to be CEOs, spend 100+ hours at work, and build things a lot more compared to women. Because, you know, there's gender differences. Also, which gender is the one that's inventing most of the medicine, health and technological advancements (even now in first world, western countries) so that elderly people can live longer and attempt to live more healthier lives? Oh right, the male gender.

"Men are more likely to be addicts, smokers, drunks". Well, according to addictioncenter: "Typically, men are more likely to abuse illicit drugs and alcohol – 11.5% of boys and men over 12 have a substance use disorder, compared to 6.4% of women and girls. However, women are more likely to go to the emergency room or fatally overdose due to substance abuse." And: "Women are more likely to experience intense cravings and relapse."

Also, we have to understand why men are more likely to abuse drugs and alcohol, the link provided above talks about it a little bit: "Men are more likely to abuse substances due to peer pressure or to be part of a group." but we also can't forget, men are more likely to be homeless compared to women and there's less resources for men (for mental health, domestic abuse, etc), so men have a higher chance of substance abuse.

She's looking at it from a surface level view, not realizing there are reasons why men are falling behind in society and her comments is one of the reasons why. But no, to her, it's women good and superior, men bad and inferior.

If we really want to make it a competition between sons vs. daughters: Men built the vast majority of things around us. Even with more gender parity now, men still invent the vast majority of things around us and maintain the infrastructure that so many people, including the woman in your post, take for granted.

[–]ReniaTycoon 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I love this comment you said EVERYTHING I was thinking. I applaud you sir. All these toxic modern feminists complaining about men and calling them inferior using technology invented by men. That are powered by electricity learnt to be harnessed by men, using electric grids made by men and mostly maintained at a moderate mortality rate by men. While sitting in her air conditioned home built and designed by men with the AC which was invented by men. She drives to her fav restaurant in a piece of tech(a car) that would not be here without male engineers. Fuck I can go on and on. Women really need to learn how to appreciate the contributions and sacrifices that amazing men brought to this world. If women and men were left on a large resource rich island men would find out a way to construct a new civilization and learn metallurgy needed way faster. I don't even know if the women's island would ever get that far. well it might but like 1000 years after the men.

[–]RecognitionNorth70001 points 3 years ago [recovered] (3 children) | Copy Link

If women need to learn to appreciate all the things made by men then they should also unappreciate all the bad things caused by men ex. most crimes, wars around the world, weapons of mass destruction, global warming.

[–]ReniaTycoon 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Indeed there is lots of corruption. However most men are decent people with lots of struggles. When the common decent man complains about inequality he faces in many aspects of society he is shut down. The system does not sympathize with men and their issues. People should also address all the horrible things women do. False accusation, the fact that when women kill they typically kill their families while men kill strangers. Women that divorce decent men and take his child and house and get's alimony. Women that also get late term abortions when their life was not even in threat and were perfectly healthy.

Well if one brings up how many male children women aborted it might equalize. I agree though I loath war and mass destructive weapons.

This is my reply to your points:

Majority of almost all violent rapists in the world in every country is male.

Majority of criminals in every country is male.

There has been a study done that girls outperform boys in school even in countries that are patriarchal or not gender equal. As for scientific contributions to society women have done lots for society in terms of innovation. The material for bulletproof vests used by law and enforcement was invented by a woman named Stephanie Kwolek. The 2020 Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded to the American female scientist Jennifer A. Doudna and the French female scientist Emmanuelle Charpentier for discovering innovative technique in genetic technology known as: CRISPR-Cas9 gene scissors. In 2014, he Field Medal for Mathematics was awarded to a woman named Maryam Mirzakhani and in 2022 the Field Medal for Mathematics was awarded to a woman named Maryna Viazovska. Other inventions made by woman include the famous dating site Bumble invented by Whitney Wolfe Herd and the marketplace site Kijiji was invented by a woman named Janice Bannister.

[–]pm_me_your_buttbulge 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Majority of almost all violent rapists in the world in every country is male.

Violent rapists is a very narrow definition in most countries. In many countries it's impossible, by definition, for women to be violent rapists. Grabbing a broom and shoving it up a boys ass is just "Assault". Drug raping him and beating him up and raping him will still just be assault. This is because of the way SA laws are worded.

Majority of criminals in every country is male.

When you say criminals - are you talking about all people convicted of any crime? Because things can get dicey real quick if you aren't careful there.

There has been a study done that girls outperform boys in school even in countries that are patriarchal or not gender equal.

Do you have a citation for that study? Because if it's the one I'm thinking of - it was somewhat misleading.

You are aware that studies have shown that simply having a female name earns higher grades, right? When teachers didn't know the name males magically got higher marks.

Funny enough those countries do allow women to get more help and specifically avoid helping men because "women need the help".

When you're talking about top performers, would you like to know what that study showed? Because it didn't seem to align with what you might expect.

As for scientific contributions to society women have done lots for society

They didn't say women haven't done anything in society. I'm not sure how you got on this train. It feels like you were reading what you wanted to hear and not what they really said. The way you worded your responses also reinforce my speculation on this.

Other inventions made by woman include the famous dating site Bumble invented by Whitney Wolfe Herd and the marketplace site Kijiji was invented by a woman named Janice Bannister.

Do you really want to enumerate a women versus men contribution in society for major advancements? Because I don't think this will go how you think it will. I think you'll find the overwhelming majority are done by men.

58 women won nobel prizes. 876 men won nobel prizes. If you want to paint in broad strokes, like you seemingly did in your response, then this paints a very different picture.

Not to mention men are also the majority of law enforcement, military, utilities, trash, trucking, farming, and fulfill most of the basic needs for our society. Yet women seek divorce far more often.

[–]Lanky-Bank-320 9 points10 points11 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is why daughters are the way they are. They use their relationship issues and their misandrist values and put in their children

[–]63daddy 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

She’s using the apex/nadir fallacy. She’s essentially categorizing all men based on a few. Men may rape more than women, but most men don’t rape for example. She’s judging all men by the actions of a small minority.

Of course she focuses on the detriments without mentioning all the positive things men do. Men build most of or infrastructure, men overall provide for family more than women, men risk their lives defending our country and doing dangerous jobs. She of course fails to mention negative attributes of women: committing infanticide, paternity fraud, shop lifting, etc.

[–]RecognitionNorth70001 points 3 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

You just committed apex fallacy yourself because not every man built any infrastructure.

[–]63daddy 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes. She used it one sided. That’s my point.

[–]Qantourisc 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes, reply this:

I assume you consider the genders somewhat equal, and not inherently evil.

As such you have to conclude either the parents and/or society fails to raise men in a healthy and prosperous matter.

[–]OrionBartholomew1 points 3 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

Men are the ones they unwillingly conscript and throw into war as human shields to protect women and women's state violence proxy. When you drive down the road, everything you see was built by and maintained by men. There are dozens upon dozens of state and federal programs designed exclusively for women and exactly zero programs for men. There are healthcare centers designed specifically for women and none designed specifically for men. Men work all of the dirty, dangerous, life shortening and life threatening jobs. Men are treated as second class citizens. Gynocentrism, courtly love and chivalry are really about enforcing male disposability.

[–]lozinski 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

What happened in China and India is that people selected for sons, leading to a scarcity of women, and women becoming the valuable commodity in the marriage market. You have to have an apartment and a car to get married.

it would be great if all the feminists like her select for daughters, then men will become the scarce and valuable resource.

[–]Coffeecup7[S] 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Do u understand what she means is not killing men but producing them and giving them the same treatment she thinks is given to female child? By treating them in a way they would regret being born. Its plain torture. Yes its true that she wasn't given a son. But that is her ideology.

[–]Throwawaydhxj 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They forgot the mention that most of these boys are from single mother homes.

[–]Parking-Animal-3383 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Sons are prone to substance abuse and droping out of school because of inadequate fathers care. Western society is encouraging divorces and boys dont have any role models in their house or school. Atleast they should bring some men in to teaching profession.

[–]nineteenletterslong_ 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

the reason why almost all rapists are male is that the rapist is defined as the penetrating partner, and this is an injustice to men.

the reason almost all prisoners are men is because women receive much lighter sentences for the same crime. in fact in the uk 5 out of 6male prisoners wouldn't be in prison if they were treated as kindly as women.

the rest is because men have a harder life. the same arguments can be done against the poor

[–]PotentialPay1795 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

What is the fundamental issue with the fall of men in our society? Why is their this huge disparity between sons and daughters?

The #1 cause of the fall of men (and in turn western society) is a lack of traditional households. Dad (head of the house), mother submissive to the head ( in there defense I wouldnt submit to these weak men of today), and children raised by men and women.

We have a growing # of men raised by women with the strength and ability of a man acting with the emotions of a woman.

The blame lies in the hands of men who chose poorly who to sleep with, example (she's OK for a lay but shes not wife material), so either she leaves or you do and in turn leave a boy to grow up learning his mother's emotional responses with manly ability.

The blame also falls in the hands of women who don't recognize the importance of giving their sons a father figure (preferably their actual father). They have pushed the father out of the home in detriment to the son.

The blame falls in the hands of a government that has not only demonized masculinity (which is needed to build and improve society) but financially incentives for the destruction of traditional households through government assistance.

These emotional men fall into violence and drugs to dull the emotional pain and never develop the character to deal with what being a man actually means due to a lack of good guidance and example.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Only like 1% of men are rapists so oops.

Otherwise yeah. Good observation that men suffer mental health issues I don't see what that makes us worse than women. Kind of rude.
