Hey /MensRights/,
After asking the question in the comments of another post here I got pretty heavily downvoted and didn't receive as clarified of an answer as possible.
I'm just confused why many believe (or indeed why) neonatal circumcision is immoral and wrong. I was circumcised as a child, and I (now at 17) haven't heard anything negative about it. I grew up with it being a standard procedure in my house so bear with me as I'm just trying to gauge a better understanding of the concept.
A quick Google search led to me the belief that it can reduce the chance of penal cancer that develops on the foreskin. Is there a greater moral reason why it's wrong?
I'm just interested, because I would've rather been circumcised when I was younger to avoid the hassle and consciousness, or rather memory, that I'd have now of the pain.
Thanks for your help.

Edit: Thanks for the replies. I understand the moral objection, since it's so much easier to rather not do the procedure and just grant choice later. It turns out my father did it simply because his father did, and he didn't really see any moral issues. Point has been dually received, thank you to anyone who responded.

Circumcision, by itself, is not wrong. If you are 18+ you ought to be able to have the operation if you consent and can pay for it, though it should count as a cosmetic surgery. The problem arises when that same operation happens to children and babies. It is a matter of body autonomy. Any non-vital surgery should be forbidden on anyone under 18.
