More over, it's performed on children unable to consent. It's pretty much irreversible. And the benefits do not even begin to outweigh the cons, especially when lots of it are literal fabrication. For instance, hygiene is NO issue if you have access to a shower. The majority of men worldwide are not circumcized and their cocks do not rot away.

It's unneeded and causes pain to an innocent who has no say or choice in the matter.

Its cutting off a perfectly normal part of the human male anatomy, which has many purposes, as a throwback to archaic times and Abraham religious rituals.

If I cut a toe off my son, is it immoral or wrong? Yes. Unequivocally yes. Why should circumcision be seen as any less barbaric

He is screaming, he is in pain, and he cannot give consent. The research is not concrete enough at all to support this barbaric procedure being performed on a baby. That's all I needed to know to be firmly against it.

If you feel OK about your circumcision and you haven't experienced any negative effects whatsoever, you are fortunate and I am glad for you. Please do further research, though, and continue to leave your mind open.

No one has the right to chop off part of your body without your consent for non-medical emergency reasons.

Circumcision is wrong for the same reason that Female Genital Mutilation is wrong.

Actual medical need of circumcision is absurdly rare, something like 1 out of 16 thousand. You're more likely to die from it than ever need it.

In truth, "medical" routine circumcision was invented to curb masturbation during a Victorian age moral panic that painted "self-abuse" as the cause of countless illnesses. See, it is intended to reduce man's sexuality, and that's what it does. All the claimed benefits since are just excuses to keep the easy money rolling in.

Its wrong because you are cutting a perfectly natural and functional part of another human's body off of them for good and throwing it in the trash, before they are even old enough to be able to give consent.

Statistically speaking a man is more likely to get breast cancer. I don't know about you, but I've never known a man with breast cancer or penile cancer. In any case, you can get cancer of any part of the body, so why single out something that is relatively risk-free?

This assumes that if your parents hadn't done this to you, that you'd have chosen to do it to yourself. Even if this would have been the case, then at least it would have been your choice. I'd rather have a normal penis, personally, but it can't be fixed. You speak of 'remember the pain', but consenting adults choose to do painful things to themselves all the time. Why should this be different?

Parents don't have the right to alter their kids' bodies when there's nothing wrong with them in the first place.

Circumcision, by itself, is not wrong. If you are 18+ you ought to be able to have the operation if you consent and can pay for it, though it should count as a cosmetic surgery. The problem arises when that same operation happens to children and babies. It is a matter of body autonomy. Any non-vital surgery should be forbidden on anyone under 18.

Because it's a unnecessary surgery if you look at the fact that over 70% of the world's male population are intact and have no issues.

I was circumcised as a infant and too much was taken that when puberty came around I was unable to grow correctly. This has since caused me to have painfully tight erections and even rip during sex leaving me with a open wound that feels like I'm being sliced by something sharp when it happens.

Had my parents not circumcised me I would not have those problems. Btw the American Cancer Society state's circumcision should not be recommended as a way to prevent penile cancer.

Even not looking into any of the health effects it is immoral. It is not needed, all the same, benifits exist if gotten later, and the child cannot consent. It is immoral to force a change on a body without their consent. An infant cannot consent. Ergo, it is wrong to force a change on an infant's body.

Even at best, circumcision lowers the rate of penile cancer from 1 in million in uncircumcised males. to 1 in 10 million in circumcised males. Meaning that if you circumcised 10 million men, you would only prevent 9 cases of penile cancer.

With the whole penile cancer, it reduces the risk of penile cancer, by removing part of the penis. It's like if you removed your kidneys, removing your risk of kidney cancer. Less cells to potentially become cancerous. Additionally, it's harmful, both physically, and mentally. Physically, it removes the functions of the foreskin(protection, specialized nerve types, it's movement functions to aid natural lubrication), and psychologically, it's been proven to alter the infant's brain, due to the lack of anesthesia used. It's also extremely unsafe to use full anesthesia at that age. Virtually all of the medical benefits have also been debunked.

Cutting pieces from a newborn baby's body without any medical reason to do so is mutilation. Mutilation isn't legal.

Can you think of any other situation where a person can be mutilated, without medical reason, without anesthetic, and without their consent, and people would think that's okay? Try doing that to anyone other than a male infant and you'll be called a torturer.

I really don't understand how people rationalize it this way. If you wouldn't want to do it now, why are you happy you were forced to do it as an innocent child?

Odds are, if you were left intact you'd feel the same about MGM; in that you wouldn't want to go through it, and thus not get it done. Since that's already how you feel about it, despite already having it forced on you. It's not something you actually have a desire to go through, but somehow that makes it better it happened when you're defenseless? Huh?

If an adult wants to do it, I have no issue with it. It's your body. But you can't force children to undergo cosmetic genital surgery.
