This is men's rights, not an extremist intactivist board.

Circumcision is legal and the American Academy of Pediatrics still advises that the preventative medical benefits outweigh the risks. You may not agree with that but it's a decision every couple has to make when they have a son. To trust actual doctors or random people on the internet.

It isn't "coping" to say "I can personally attest to the fact that I do not feel pain from being circumcised, and I believe the risks of phimosis, etc. are greater than the risks of a botched circumcision". That's a defensible medical decision made by a concerned parent.

It is also a defensible decision to say that you would just like your son to be able to make his own choice, even if that means he would need to be circumcised at an older age when it is riskier.

I have two sons, I have made both calls.

What is wrong is grown women being overly concerned with what a baby boy's penis looks like. Either way.

Stay away from my sons.

See this post that was posted to the Men's Venting and other subreddits:

"When I was an infant my foreskin was forcefully removed. There are no standards to this procedure; my cut was far worse than your typical one. As a result, my relationships were ruined and I suffered from severe psychological distress for many years. Many say I care too much, but they would too if their relationships were ruined.

Cutting off(genitally mutilating) the male foreskin causes men to engage in all kinds of strange sexual behavior to make up for the loss of sensation. This explains why Viagra is so popular in the US where circumcision rates are the highest. There’s been speculation that this is why rape is so high in the US. Infant genital cutting permanently ruins male empathy.

There’s this story of a boy named David Reimer who had to undergo gender reassignment surgery at birth who took his life because the doctors messed up during the procedure.

For those who think it’s just a flap of skin I suggest seeing the video on this page starting at 2:50 showing Enzo (Foregen founder) wrapping a hyper realistic replica foreskin (HuFo) he made around a penis model showing indisputably and in no uncertain terms just how much skin and function is lost from MGM.

There are also graphics on the page comparing the replica foreskin with the size of an iPhone 5s, showing all the parts of the foreskin, and demonstrating the wrapping process step-by-step from start to finish. There is absolutely no way for anyone to deny that the foreskin is just a little piece of skin after seeing the vid and graphics.

Foreskin is the candy and the wrapper. Life without a foreskin is like seeing in black in white. There’s a vid of an uncut guy orgasming 3x in an hour. I have never seen this with a cut guy. Multiple whole body orgasms are impossible without a foreskin. Would you cut off someone’s eyelids? No. So why cut off the foreskin? It’s found on all mammals, performs key functions, painful and risky to remove, and tries to re-adhere to the after the procedure like it’s supposed to be there.

I was one of the first ‘inactivists’ who talked out against this human bodily rights issue over a decade ago but was ignored by 80% of people. Thankfully ever since more people are taking it serious"

From what I understand the main concern that it's a human rights issue not just that it negatively affects men.

If its such a "non-issue" then surely it should be okay to allow boys to make the decision for themselves right when they are old enough to understand the procedure and consent to it?

But no.. they never get the choice.. they have healthy tissue removed from their bodies based on barbaric and outdated cultural norms and so the foreskins can be sold to beauty companies to make skin cream. All without the parents or the child's consent as its considered "Donating" the skin even though companies make massive profits off of it.

There is also sooooo much misinformation around the "Benefits" of circumcision.

1) Its easier to clean, It takes like 10 seconds to pull the foreskin back and clean in and around it.. wow.. what ever will someone do without those 10 seconds in their life...

2) It prevents STDs / STI's, You know what does an even better job of that? Condoms!

3) Its "cultural", If its your culture to mutilate infants then your culture is disgusting and barbaric and I refuse to respect it.

Look, I get that you are probably circumcised and that YOU don't have a problem with it..
But just because YOU are fine with it that doesn't mean many other boys / men don't suffer because of something done to them without their consent.

It's done without anesthesia to a newborn baby. Studies have been done. The baby feels it. It's in a very sensitive spot. It causes trauma.

Maybe if you educated yourself on the issue, you'd understand.

Here's a study to get you started.

A study of 408 men circumcised in the first month of life vs. 211 uncircumcised men found that early circumcision was associated with lower attachment security and lower emotional stability in adulthood, along with higher perceived stress and sensation-seeking.

Here's one more study.

A frequently cited paper in Journal of Health Psychology described circumcision as “observably painful” and suggested it is likely to have psychological consequences, including a range of negative emotions and even associations with PTSD-like responses in some men.

Maybe you have a problem with seeing men as people who have a fully emotional dimension? That can experience trauma?

It seems like you're uncomfortable with men experiencing emotional damage or trauma, and you want to diminish it for some reason.

I went through a car window, head first. I had to have 56 stitches to close the wound and you never caught me crying through the whole thing. The doctor doing the stitching was called away for someone else and when she got back, she asked me if I wanted more anesthesia, to which I said no.

This new generations of "men" are getting more like women every day. Then, they come here literally crying about how "things aren't fair". Start acting like men. Stop saying how something that happened to you when you don't even remember it, makes you a victim.

I'm so tired of this sub. Some men can still creatively post about how men are losing their rights, but most of the men that are younger... and you can tell who they are, just cry. When men acted like men, this wasn't accelerated like it is now.

Men used to be able to have creative discussions. You could disagree with other men and they wouldn't resort to name-calling and insults. Back in my day, there weren't terms like "emotional trauma", "emotional intelligence", "trauma dumping". The last three generations have gotten so weak and that's not the answer. Be a man, be strong.

In my day, newborn boys were circumcised, but no one ever said a thing about it. In fact, I don't remember anyone even caring... at all.

Which country and what year?
For the United States, according to this CDC document, from 1979 to 2008 the highest percent of "percent circumcised during birth hospitalization" is 1981 with only 64.9% circumcised, so many males were left intact.

The big deal about it, even though it's "just skin" is the following:

It's a surgical amputation of part of the most sensitive part of the male body with the highest concentration of nerve endings located anywhere on their body. A male baby first enters the world, is subjected to pain in the most sensitive part of his body (and when done for religious reasons, it's done with NO ANESTHESIA!) In EVERY briss, the baby cries like crazy! And you would cry as loudly too if surgical amputation of part of the most sensitive part of your body was performed without anesthetic!

In essence it's a boy's first, "Welcome to the world, kid! Here's a gift of pain! Get used to it and suck it up! Nothing you can do about it! You have no choice but to just TAKE IT, kid! How do you like life so far?"

I know lots of people who say it's not SO painful, but my friend had it done at 13 and any time his organ would get even slightly engorged and the skin would get stretched taught he'd be practically screaming in agony. He spend the next days trying to avoid ANYTHING that would even remotely arouse him at all costs. And he said until it healed, he would wake up at night in utter agony from the natural erections that occur during sleep.

And we do this automatically to boys to first introduce them to life!

Yeah, it's JUST SKIN alright, but let's see how getting part of your ear, or your nose amputated feels. You think it might hurt? And not just when it's being done, but would hurt for some time afterward too? And these parts of your body don't have nearly the concentration of nerve endings in them. What would the big deal be about, right? After all, they're JUST SKIN, aren't they?

It's amazing that they take such care not to traumatize the baby at birth, yet they then they go out of their way to purposely traumatize the baby with pain like this immediately afterward...that is, they do it to them if they're boys, of course.

That's in America. In some parts of the world they do even worse sexual mutilation on women. It's utterly horrific! That's not to be excused because of what's done to boys on our country. Women aren't mutilated here, thank goodness, but boys ARE circumcized!

And 14,000 circumcisions are botched in America every year. 100 babies DIE every year from complications of botched circumcisions and a hell of a lot more live, but lose all or part of their penises as a result of those 14,000 botched procedures every year.

Sure, it's JUST SKIN, but hopefully, this offers a little different perspective.

I'm 68 and I've never heard a joke about rape in my life. Not ever. It's a subject I and my other male friends feel is wrong to ever make light of! If any of MY male friends tried to tell one, it would be very badly received, I assure you! So I'm surprised by the comment that men tell jokes about rape "all the time". What kind of degenerate men does the commenter hang around with?!

Maybe, this kind of behavior is what "bad boys" do (I don't know because my friends are all good people--or they wouldn't be my friends), but it's not the kind of thing good people like I and MY male friends do.

I think this poster needs to start hanging out with better human beings. If the men they know tell rape jokes, that should be a HUGE red flag!

If the men any women know tell rape jokes, those men are A-holes, and they need to hang around a better class of men.
