I know it seems obvious to the majority of you, but I'm saying it here and now for the rest of you with that "maybe" lingering in the back of your heads. Don't. Just don't do it. It doesn't matter how rational and civilized you are. It doesn't matter if you're ugly or handsome. It doesn't matter if you're nothing but helpful. It doesn't matter if you're married.

They. Don't. Care.

They look for problems the instant they meet you, and you either submit or get absolutely tortured. You're looking for solutions. They're looking for problems. The battle starts the moment that you arrive. If you go to a job interview, ask to get out there and see the floor or whatever workspace you're in. If you see anywhere near 50% women in the area, you're in for a very hard time unless you're okay with working a dead-end job where the women are building a portfolio for your eventual HR demise.

Take it from the guy that grew up wanting to be in STEM and learned how terrible of a waste of time and money that was. No wonder every male doctor hides in his office.
