DEI isnt bilateral.

Its only a "protected group" that gets it. College could go up to 100% female it would not be seen as a problem.

Similarly HR, law, healthsci, biosci, pharmacy, teaching , psychology, nutrition are up to 80% female dominated careers and its not a DEI issue as males are not a "diverse group", "protected group", "equity seeking group".

DEI is ideological, ironically if female dominated areas are not also equalized, the male dominated areas wont be equalized because male:female is 50/50 population. But ideologues like feminists dont like to think in mathematical terms.

DEI is about empowering certain groups and disempowering others, but calling it what it really is reflects poorly on those who benefit from the rigged system. So they put a positive-sounding spin on what they’re doing.

At every step, the educational system is rigged in favor of females and against males. Most teachers are women. Boys get worse grades than girls for turning in the same quality work. Boys are disproportionately punished and suspended. Almost all gender-specific scholarships are still reserved for women. Read The War Against Boys for more details.

It’s almost like the system is designed to keep steering women into more comfortable professions linked to higher degrees, and men into the more dangerous, manual labor-oriented professions.

When I worked in higher education, DEI was in reality about convincing people to ignore the college’s non discrimination policy with a special interest on hiring and promoting female minorities especially followed by white females. They’ve succeeded in clearing men from most of the top positions. They’ve succeeded current female president never had to apply or interview to become president, she was just handed the job.

In a society with extreme wealth and income disparities there must be some mechanisms to prevent socialist revolution. Part of managing resentment among the working class is things like DEI which operate to divide the working class against itself. DEI is thus capital friendly and will be promoted by capital not because DEI has any merit, but because its true purpose is divide and rule - To support the status quo of an inequitable capitalist system by undermining class consciousness.

My sister is a believer in this. The argument she gives is the following:

Who would you hire:

Someone who grew up rich
or
Someone who grew up poor

They both have the same resume, same college degree, same work experience. Everything being equal beside their upbringing, who would you hire. It makes sense that you'd hire the poor person because they must've faced more adversity right.

But this is a loaded question when you apply this to men vs women. Everyone should know by now that male privilege (systemic and social) is not a thing. And to favor females over males because of the false idea of male privilege is ridiculous.

As far as I understand, "Equality" means everyone has equal access to resources, and "Equity" means resources are divvied up so everyone has equal outcomes.
There's a pic out there that demonstrates it as you have 3 people; one is 6ft tall, one is 5ft tall, and one is 4ft tall, and they want to watch a baseball game that's behind a 5ft tall fence.
It shows Equality as everyone gets a 1ft box to stand on. The 6ft person doesn't need the box, it helps the 5ft person to see, and the box does nothing for the 4ft person. Thus only two people can watch the game.
It then shows Equity as the 6ft person gets no box, the 5ft person has one box, and the 4ft person gets two boxes. Thus everyone gets to watch the game.

The issue is Equity is being used to cover everyone, everywhere, regardless of how people and resources are distributed.
The group that's 60% A and 40% B isn't going to need the same resource adjustment as the group that's 40% A and 60% B

I think biggest PR issue of DEI is classifying women as minority which does not make any sense since they are majority... in democratic country.

If not for that it would not have to penalize out-group so much to get promises bonuses for in-group. When you give priority for 10% population you are still left with much space for remaining 90%. When you give priority for 51% of population remaining 49% is not having any free slots left so it is having no other choice than to fight or die. And on top of that it kills "diversity" claim - the filtered group is not diverse anymore.

For example, Brown, Vanderbilt, UChicago, and Columbia admit more men as a proportion of applicants, whereas Cornell, Caltech, and MIT admit more women as a proportion of applicants. DEI is essentially a Managerial Priest-Class that owns the truth. You can only know the correct truth through the Priest-Class, all else is heresy.

In Marxism, Equity is largely about wealth transfers and ultimately Identity/ethnic purges of all who do not conform to their prescribed identity-box.

Intersectionalism is your mandatory Identity box, plus extra boxes.

A white man, or "white adjacent" which now includes Asian and Jewish men according to them (see college admissions) is a punitive box that's negative in value. Unless, they add an Intersectional box such as being gay, trans, or disabled et al, to raise you out of the penalty. Your box will never be higher than a woman's or "minority" because you are an "oppressor."

If you refuse to stay in your box, that's where the purge aspect of Equity comes in. You get disappeared.

This might help you to understand why DEI exists to begin with;

First, because DEI is not about equal outcomes, it's about equal opportunity. Equal outcomes is the lie the right has told over and over again.

Second, fewer men CHOOSE to go to college than women. This gets amplified when you go to graduate school. More women are choosing to go to law school than men. More women are choosing to go to medical school than men. Conversely more men choose to go to an MBA program or a cs/engineering program than women.

This is not an issue of gender bias in school or the intellectual capacity of men versus women. Men tend to score slightly higher on standardized tests while women tend to have a higher GPA. This is an issue of interest.

There are a higher percentage of male dominated occupations that don't require a college degree but can still provide a salary for a middle-class lifestyle. Think about the trades, police officers, and firefighters. For a woman to earn a middle class or better income most of their options are limited to those involving a college education.

There are more female coded scholarships available, but most of those are specifically targeted towards Fields where women are underrepresented such as STEM and leadership. So even though there's more scholarships available for women to become engineers than men there's still more male engineers than women.

It is not the case that men are going to college at a lower rate because of DEI. They are just making different choices. Colleges are in danger of closing because men are choosing not to go to college anymore. The seats are available for them, they're just saying no.

I work in higher ed. Men have applied to college at lower rates than women in recent years, so the disparity in enrollments is partially due to a “supply” side issue. It’s also an open secret in admissions offices that at many colleges, men often receive a bump in the college admissions process akin to the bump that some underrepresented groups receive. Put plainly, DEI is in force in a way that helps men in college admissions. A “meritocratic” process (based on, say, course grades earned in high school) would reduce the number of men enrolled in college even further.

If you want to improve college enrollment rates for men, a few places to focus before admissions would be:

1.) ensuring men succeed in K-12 schools at the same rates as women 2.) ensuring that more men apply to college 3.) ensure that men who apply to college actually enroll.

For starters you’re just assuming 50% of applicants are male and 50% are female, so you have to adjust for that which you haven’t done. Young men seem to love people like Charlie Kirk these days who says “absolutely not college; it’s a scam” so it is fairly reasonable to expect that this will have an effect on not applying to go to college. Could simply be that women are boat racing men in being smart about their future and not listening to doofy social media that says education is evil.
