Picked clean of any negative characterization of women. Ignorance on the side of the husband could never be a result of deception on the side of the wife. If men see their wife as maternal instead of sexual it is the man’s problem, and not a result of years of lack of sexual activityAfter having a child. She wants an emotional connection with someone she categorizes as masculine and not expressing emotions.

This is what gender studies is for, the careful reframing of the world so that all the problems are men’s and all the responsibility for fixing them is man’s.

This doesn't seem unique either. Searching around online, site after site after site frames a wife's affair differently than a husband's --- even and especially in trying to heal from one.

I can't even search for "Healing from wife's affair" anymore, since they all inevitably, in one way or another, say it was my fault, see it as a "wake up call", and learn to forgive.

The only way to get any goddamned validation for my emotions and experience is to search "Healing from husband's affair" and switch the genders in my head.

So, emotionally cheating is not as bad as physical cheating?

I'd say a relationship where someone has a one off night has at least a chance to be fixed.

However when you emotionally cheat, there's no ifs, ands, or buts about it. You clearly do not feel anything for the other person anymore. You can't fix that issue.

I'm not condoning cheating either way, but to be damned if one has way more ability to damage a person than the other.

Honestly, I don't disagree with the reasons stated for cheating. But I disagree with the causes.

I don't think most men quit seeing their wives as sex objects after they have babies. I think wives are the ones that quit viewing the relationship from a sexual standpoint. They want the romance, companionship, emotional support, etc. But they ignore the fact that men still want to be desired. And most men need that physical connection to maintain the emotional connection the wife wants.

Trying to sugar coat the woman's excuse as the husband's fault for not meeting her emotional needs, but then throwing men under the bus for looking elsewhere when his wife stops meeting his needs seems a little hypocritical.

Men and women cheat for a variety of different reasons. While it is nuanced, I'd say a lot of the reason people cheat is to show that they still "have it". It could mean physique, an alluring demeanor, knowing that somebody desires you instead of seeing you as the person who brings home the check or fixes dinner and bathes the babies...

No matter who you are, it's nice to feel like you still "have it".
