The most important thing to remember about research studies and especially the old one she was referencing. They are small samples, they are easily biased, and data can be twisted to show one point of view by simply ignoring the data that doesn't support what you want. Until peer reviewed and replicated a study is just that 1 study.

I'm not gonna click that link and potentially give it ad revenue, but the very obvious answer to your question is YES. And in a very negative way. My grandfather and father both taught and showed me how to be a good and proper man (mostly by good examples, sometimes by their mistakes). I make it a point to do the same for my own son.

I don't care what this post-modern society tells us, a woman absolutely cannot fill the role a man in a child's life (son or daughter). Conversely, a child needs a good mother, too. The core foundation of a "good" person always starts with a solid, strong, nuclear family unit.

There is a large body of peer reviewed data and articles built on that data that shows fathers are indeed needed in children's lives. Can your website hold up to peer review and being sourced in peer reviewed articles? If they can't cite references then don't use them as a source.

As a result, the son may not receive the same level of guidance and support that he would have if he had a father figure present in his life.
This can really hurt his development in areas like sports, but also other masculine activities, like fixing things around the house or learning how to be assertive.

That being said, I don't necessarily think that a single mom is hopeless when It comes to raising her son without a father. They can seek help from outside, which may alleviate some of the problems they face. They can ask for help to male relatives, friends, or mentors who can serve as positive male role models for their sons. They can also enroll their sons in community programs or sports teams where they can interact with male coaches who can help them.
If they truly educate themselves honestly by critical thinking with an open mind, reading books, looking at websites and asking for help towards more knowledgeable people, I believe that they can somewhat make it work.

Well I speak from my personal experience when I say this. I'm male, married with 3 kids. Oldest is 15 (m) we are together. A family. We both notice lately that he is confrontational, aggressive, dismissive of his mother but never to me. If i say that enough/ shut up the situation is over. With his mum, he escalates. I can absolutely see that in his mind he is beginning to position himself above his mother and any rules etc she sets. If I wasn't around to keep him in check I don't foresee things turning out well. Just to add he's not a bad kid but he's a teenager, shit happens. She's also a great mum. I'm never aggressive or violent or anything of the sort, just to clarify. It's simply that he seems to respect me more and knows I won't stand for any of that shit. He listens to my advice too, he is dismissive of his mother's When it comes to emotional stuff though she is 100 percent the first and often only person he turns to. Kids need their dads, not just financially. Fathers provide stability and can keep in charge of authority in the household. There's many things also that a father does that are very important. I'm showing him how to by a good respectable man.

I experience both worlds. I lived with my father for a good chunk of my life and I lived with my mother for the remaining chunk. In all honesty, me staying with my mother was the best thing for me and it turned me into the woman I am today. I don’t hate my father, but I would rather not visit him as he’s a extreme racist and he still thinks that he is that popular college frat boy everyone loves and worships, along with loving his wife more than his own children. My mom has had her moments, but she has held my feet to the fire if accountability, she helped me gain self confidence/discipline and she gives me advice on how to be a good girlfriend to my current boyfriend :)

It’s not just the father, the absence of a mother isn’t good either. A discussion that my wife and I had when we decided to spend our lives together with each other.

A father figure is needed in a boys life to teach him discipline, understand what it means to be a man, teach him how he should treat a woman because at some point he too will desire a woman just like his father etc. It’s not just about teaching him how to change the engine oil and how to shave his facial hair and what’s the difference between this wrench and that screwdriver. A father figure is needed in a girls life to also teach her about discipline, help put a perspective about men and some of the hardships they encounter, how sometimes a man will try their best for her when she becomes a woman etc etc.

Likewise, a mother figure is also needed in a boys life so that she can teach him how to appreciate a woman, how to be a proper gentleman to her, how one day he might have his own daughter and should know the feelings of a woman. A mother figure is needed in a girls life to teach her how to be a proper lady, not to take other peoples feelings for granted, how she might one day have kids so she needs to understand how to be there for her own children, teach her how she shouldn’t fall victim ti society’s false narratives and learn to think for herself and do what’s right etc etc.

So yeah, it’s not just the absence of a father, it’s actually the absence of a either parent that has a significant impact. What example do you set for the kids? That it’s okay for a man and wife to leave each other over silly reasons? That the kids shouldn’t have any sense of direction in life? That it’s fun to celebrate your birthday twice and see if mom does it better or if dad does it better? That these kids when they become adults and have kids of their own, that they shouldn’t be responsible for them because that’s how they were raised?
