A federal judge ruled it is discriminatory and unconstitutional to exempt women from selective service. Congress considered including having women equally register, but dropped that provision. Government, like society in general is gynocentric.

Laws rules and regulations that might harm men are status quo, this is why men pay more for car insurance.

But if the law rule or regulations might harm woman, it's sexism and needs to stop. This is why it's illegal to charge woman more for health insurance.

So since the draft doesn't hurt woman, it's status quo and there's nothing to see.

The world is conservative if it benefits women, and liberal if it also benefits women.

We still have conservative rights like women dont have to register, we have men not being able to change their gender to avoid military conscription (except switzerland).

While we live in a world full of liberal laws about abortion, r*pe, and other stuff like this. Why cant we just act liberal/equal when men are discriminated?

When women pass Ranger School and have made it into the 75th Ranger Regiment, the feminists use that as an example that women can do anything men can do. Not only that, but it proves that women could have done it all along, but “patriarchy” has been holding them back.

Okay, fair enough.

However, if you then say “women can do anything men can do,” so let’s include them in the Selective Service/potential draft, then the excuses pour in about how not every woman is built for war, who’s going to have the babies, forcing people to serve is slavery, blah blah blah.

It’s a great example of wanting all the choice but none of the responsibility.

They recently attempted to include women in Selective Service.

Generals don’t seem to worry about killing other peoples sons. Just daughters.

Realistically guesstimating: it’s bad PR for body bags of women to return rather than the “usual” men whom society is accustomed to send off to die for corporate gree…er…freedom. I believe it would greatly hurt recruiting efforts which are already declining.

I have started a petition to call on congress and the senate to either abolish the selective service system or to expand it to include everyone in registration.The current selective service system is unconstitutional like many here in this comment section have said since it applies based on gender which violates the 14th of the constitution and the equal protections clause.I would appreciate if anyone here can look into it and sign my petition as this is a major inequality in the law and signing the petition would increase our chances of have equality in the law.

The draft was challenged during the first world war. The main argument against the draft was it is the state denying a citizens freedom of choice and autonomy. The state was compelling it's citizens into military service (potentially) against their will, under pain of imprisonment or death, to be sent over seas to fight and potentially die in a war.

The supreme court ruled the civil liberties and freedoms, including the right to vote, are not free. Those rights are given to the male citizens of the United States and the selective service is our duty and payment to the state in exchange for those liveries and freedoms.

Because they like to pretend that women are inherantly worse at fighting, despite the fact that armed forces in other countries have female fighters, and have done for decades.

Although there is still a need for people who can heft a lot of equipment around, and go on long exercises, modern warfare tends to mean operating over shorter time periods with relatively short distances to base.

This means that there is no real disadvantage to female fighters ( or more slightly built males). Likewise other areas of warfare.

A country that neglects to train & employ its people in the military regardless of gender, is a country that effectively loses half its potential armed forces. I can't understand that mentality.

It massively depends on the country. The general theme is that in most cultures men are more disposable, that the average man is stronger thus better suited to fight in a war, and utilities the male instinct to provide and protect.

Historically drafts were used only when the opposing force was aiming for genocide, in every other scenario the economic disruption caused by a draft would make the territory easy to conquer and defeating the purpose of the draft. Most people also didn't have a lot of things that would make sense to plunder, outside of food and carrying a lot of it would also make little sense.

I’m probably not a person whos opinion matters but I’m happy women don’t have to be drafted. Of course I’m also a woman who believes in being a housewife and traditional ways of home life. I dont demand crazy feminist stuff and then expect to be pampered.
