If you feel the need to apologize for stuff that others did you're dumb.
[–]Stoicism1981 43 points44 points45 points (5 children) | Copy Link
I agree. I am a girl but I don’t represent other girls. I never apologise to men what some women have done to them. I never did that to you why should I apologise?
Just not logical.
[–]alclarkey 19 points20 points21 points (4 children) | Copy Link
Keep that up, people are only obligated to apologize for their own toxic behavior, individuals must never be required to apologize for the bad behavior of other members of the group they belong to. That is a toxic mentality of itself.
[–]Stoicism1981 0 points1 point2 points (3 children) | Copy Link
As that being said I think I often feel guilty what we did to animals. Although I know I shouldn’t I never abused any dogs.
[–]alclarkey 1 point2 points3 points (2 children) | Copy Link
Feeling guilty for other people's crimes can be a natural feeling to have, after all we're all part of the human family. After the murder during the 20th century (250 million by their governments all told, holocaust+ everything else) I often wonder if we left such a stain of evil on the world, that maybe the world would be better off without humanity on it.
That being said, feeling guilty for other people's crimes is an unhealthy mental state, and can lead to depression, I would avoid it if I were you.
[–]Stoicism1981 1 point2 points3 points (1 child) | Copy Link
I have doubts on humanity in general too. That’s why I often don’t like seeing people blowing up their personal problems out of proportion as I can’t justify why humans problems are super important. Why our life is much much more valuable than a birds life for example?
You are right. I try to avoid situation that I’d feel guilty and horrible in. I never watch news for example.
[–]alclarkey 0 points1 point2 points (0 children) | Copy Link
Again, it comes down to the individual, there are certainly a few would I would choose the bird over, then there are others whose value would eclipse all birds everywhere.

If you're apologising on behalf of others who have done bad shit before because they are also male then you need to take a good long hard look in the mirror and reevaluate where your self respect has gone.

One of the comments...bitch I don’t want to be part of a man hating cult. And what should a man hold himself accountable for? Cunt.
[–]DanteLivra 11 points12 points13 points (0 children) | Copy Link
Ahem. I take full responsabilities over the trauma and the hurtful experiences I subjected women to in the past. I know that since I am a man, my mere presence around the female gender is making them uncomfortable, some even get traumatized because of it. The reason is because my male body is excreting patriarchy pheromones, that create some sort of "manophere" in a 5 meters radius around me. Some symptoms of being infected by those pheromones includes the feeling of being a helpless victim, complete lack of agency and an irrational fear for everything that is related to men. Please share awareness, together we can end the patriarchy pheromones.
Big /S obviously.
[–]RoyalBlueSquare 20 points21 points22 points (4 children) | Copy Link
> Male feminists need to spend less time trying to prove that they're one of the good ones and realize that they too have abused and raped women in their lifetime and that it's unforgivable
One of the comments. Do they really think every man is a rapist?
[–]DanteLivra 6 points7 points8 points (0 children) | Copy Link
Big ooof. These people are often the ones who forced herself on a dude even tho he was drunk and saying no.
[–]theskincoatsalesman 1 point2 points3 points (2 children) | Copy Link
Dude I swear to god its a total thing, in which they specifically prey on women who have been abused by men. Then they reinforce the PTSD fueled idea all men are your abuser.
Its a total fucking cult thing, when I was super pro feminist I 100% believed all men were a danger its was fucking insane, and really gross. They preyed & fed upon my PTSD under the guise of “female empowerment”.
So yeah, I think a lot of them actually do.

Ex-male Feminist. We're trained to watch each other constantly for any signs of imposing ourselves onto women in ANY way and read it as a gross over-step. I was there at parties cock-blocking blokes even though, or maybe because, I am gay and have no vested interest in doing so except "protecting women". Looking back all I did was Rob women of being brave and/or exercising their agency.
I started to realise something was wrong when the group became less interested in me as a person once I grew a beard out and stopped wearing tank tops. Turns out I was the groups man eye candy.
One rule for thee but not for me.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points (0 children) | Copy Link
It really seems more and more clear to me that women don't know what they want. Or rather, what they want is to be outraged/complaining. That's why it seems like we can't win - because the thing women want to do, the state of their desire, inherently involves the criticism, shaming, and insulting of men as a whole.
[–]TDG0922 2 points3 points4 points (0 children) | Copy Link
You win by not playing. It's always been that way.
[–]OctaviaPinfold 1 point2 points3 points (0 children) | Copy Link
However you look at it and whatever the intention is behind it, men should not apologize for something they didn't do. Nobody should.
That said, I have a feeling that there are men out there already who actually think they have to. But that's just worse.
[–]Luchadorgreen 1 point2 points3 points (0 children) | Copy Link
I’ll never apologize. I’ll never feel bad about things I didn’t do. I’ll never be guilted into serving in their personal war against a minority of men just because I share superficial traits with them.
[–]omidoggo 1 point2 points3 points (0 children) | Copy Link
We should start making feminists apologies for their feminists who falsely accused guys lol
[–]LettuceBeGrateful 1 point2 points3 points (0 children) | Copy Link
I agree with part of #1. People who apologize on behalf of their entire gender are cringe.
#2 is just dumb though. She's engaging in bullshit gender identitarianism. Not surprising, given that in number 1 she starts from a place of assuming the guy is guilty of something merely for being male.
[–]ghostofkilgore 1 point2 points3 points (0 children) | Copy Link
Why on Earth would anyone apologise for something someone else did?
[–]theskincoatsalesman 1 point2 points3 points (0 children) | Copy Link
If you’re a decent person who doesn’t hurt people, you shouldnt feel the need to apologize on behalf of other people. That goes for men and women. You don’t have to be sorry, you just gotta not treat other people like shit.
Like is it so hard to treat humans like humans? On both sides. Like i want to be like “yeah im a feminist”, in the definition that I think men and women are equals and should be treated as such. But twitter feminism doesn’t seem to have end goal, or even an ideal for what they want. Theres no way they end up happy.
Theres never a “you should do x” its always just, “you’re doing it wrong!!”. Like do they even know what they’d like to happen? How can make progress with no ideal finish? What I also don’t get, why on earth would anyone want to support you if you’re always going to punish them for it? Like if you don’t want to be punished for being a woman the answer is not to go fucking punish men for being men. Its Literally fighting fire with fucking fire and expecting the wildfire to die down its fucking ridiculous.
[–]Rockbottom503 1 point2 points3 points (0 children) | Copy Link
It's a no win situation discussing stuff like this with women, let alone militant feminists. The shit you get when you go along with their crap is clearly in the comments there; disagree and you're a rape apologist.

[–]Jackfly0114 0 points1 point2 points (0 children) | Copy Link
Are they stupid? Warranbool school or whatever got in a shit ton of backlash a week ago for the same thing.
[–]Manux005 0 points1 point2 points (0 children) | Copy Link
Since men are not apreciated, we should just stop doing anything for women, if it's not family or for work. They will finally know, what they had, when they don't have it anymore.
[–]Manux005 0 points1 point2 points (0 children) | Copy Link
Why don't the women feel the need to apologise for being the same gender of that "terrible gender"?
[–]Bad_Routes 0 points1 point2 points (0 children) | Copy Link
I actually started laughing, thank God I'm in the break room by myself
[+]Caring_Cactus -18 points-17 points-16 points (33 children) | Copy Link
They have a point though, it's totally unnecessary to say and detracts from the main conversation, which probably was someone opening up about harassment they recently experienced.
It is a way to subconsciously separate one's self from the devastation that others are causing. There are more authentic ways to express genuine concern than that.
[–]homo__schedule 18 points19 points20 points (31 children) | Copy Link
Yes I agree, they do have a point.
However that's not my problem. My problem is that feminists often tell me that the issues caused by my gender are issues caused by me and force me to apologize.
Image how stupid it would be if me, a muslim was forced to apologize to the whites for 9/11 and 26/11 and then I was told that me apologizing is detaching myself from those things.
[–]GullibleAirport732 8 points9 points10 points (26 children) | Copy Link
I'm a Muslim and I use this analogy myself, tons of times. I really wouldn't like if someone asked to apologize for 9/11. And even if I did, I was told I'm still part of the problem lol. I've noticed this, that Islamophobia and Misandry have shockingly similar patterns. "Not all Muslims are terrorists, but all terrorists are Muslims" . We all know what's the male equivalent for this stupid reasoning lol
[–]homo__schedule 5 points6 points7 points (1 child) | Copy Link
Ye I know. I have personally faced this Islamophobia aswell. Many of my hindu friends , while not doing it on purpose have said such kinds of things to me.
[–]GullibleAirport732 4 points5 points6 points (0 children) | Copy Link
Ah I see. I'm sorry to hear that. I'm in Pakistan so thankfully I never got to experience Islamophobia like that.
[–]Xx_SwordWords_xX 1 point2 points3 points (23 children) | Copy Link
Not all feminists are man hating, practitioners of misandry....✌️
[–]GullibleAirport732 0 points1 point2 points (22 children) | Copy Link
Definitely. I understand that. I was talking about misandry in a general sense, which can come from anybody, feminist or non feminist
[–]Xx_SwordWords_xX 1 point2 points3 points (21 children) | Copy Link
It won't come from a true feminist, because feminism is about equality for BOTH sexes.
[–]Bad_Routes -1 points0 points1 point (20 children) | Copy Link
You can't say that because women who do say that call themselves feminists
[–]Xx_SwordWords_xX 0 points1 point2 points (19 children) | Copy Link
Try real hard to follow:
They are not true feminists and are misguided imposterers.
[–]Bad_Routes -1 points0 points1 point (18 children) | Copy Link
Don't be a dick:
Just because you say they aren't true feminists doesn't nullify their claim of being feminists. A lot of the people commenting on that r/feminism post might disagree with you and say you aren't the real feminist
[–]Xx_SwordWords_xX 0 points1 point2 points (17 children) | Copy Link
By definition of Feminism, they don't meet it. Period. Sorry you are having trouble comprehending that. 🙃
[–]Bad_Routes0 points [recovered] | Copy Link
Damn you really got me there. Its not like there is a sub actively encouraging the "not true feminist" ideals. It seems like you have trouble realizing that feminism has moved past a certain point and is instead becoming toxic through many modern followers.
[–]Xx_SwordWords_xX1 point [recovered] | Copy Link
Those are called extremists, and again, I'm sorry you can't seem to process this, but they do not reflect the true movement of feminism by definition.
[–]Bad_Routes0 points [recovered] | Copy Link
Keep apologizing ig, the are extremists and are also feminists of the modern time
[–]Xx_SwordWords_xX1 point [recovered] | Copy Link
Still having trouble comprehending, huh?
It's not a debate. There is an actual definition for feminism.
[–]Bad_Routes0 points [recovered] | Copy Link
God you're insufferable, there is a definition but a lot of modern woman don't follow it. It's just been reduced to "I hate men" and to have thousands of people chiming in on it in an indifferent stance at the least and fully supporting it at most shows that it's not a tiny few.
[–]Xx_SwordWords_xX1 point [recovered] | Copy Link
Look! You almost followed the logic.
[–]Bad_Routes1 point [recovered] | Copy Link
Weird how you have selective hearing like most feminists
[–]Xx_SwordWords_xX1 point [recovered] | Copy Link
It's not selective just because we dismiss whinging.
[–]Bad_Routes0 points [recovered] | Copy Link
You mean "whining."
Did you get dismissed from spelling class?
When you dismiss everything you dislike as whining you become unable to have proper discussion to actually make things better
[–]Xx_SwordWords_xX1 point [recovered] | Copy Link
Ah look. More delusions based on falsehoods.
You're wrong, and more specifically, limited. But hey, if you wish to deduce yourself to the sounds of an animal or baby, fine by me. ✌️
Whinging vs. Whining
[–]Bad_Routes0 points [recovered] | Copy Link
So you're from the UK, I knew something was off about you? Now it makes sense

[–]Xx_SwordWords_xX1 point [recovered] | Copy Link
I was in fact correcting you for not capitalising a proper noun.
Maybe you shouldn't be so petty as to mock a word you don't understand; especially when you are so clearly out of your depth.

[+]Stoicism1981 -10 points-9 points-8 points (0 children) | Copy Link
Actually I see if you don’t apologise, you are detaching yourself from those things.
[–]Caring_Cactus -5 points-4 points-3 points (2 children) | Copy Link
That's a totally separate topic from what was originally posted.
Because yeah, I agree too that's a huge problem as well to completely assume an entire gender/sex.
No one would tell you to apologize though... Who's telling men to apologize? Words are cheap and self centered most the time, lead with action!
Edit: I also agree it would be stupid for anyone to be told to apologize for an entire culture/sex/gender/race, etc. Isn't that the whole point in that post though? To not apologize on be half of all men? ....
[–]homo__schedule 1 point2 points3 points (1 child) | Copy Link
Not really. The point of the post was that there's no pleasing feminists because they ask to apologize for and correct my fellows man's behaviour but then also make posts like this.
[–]Caring_Cactus -1 points0 points1 point (0 children) | Copy Link
I was talking about the original post... not your post.
I don't think that discussion thread is a good example to get your point across. But your point is still valid, my apologies for the confusion.
[–]bufedad 0 points1 point2 points (0 children) | Copy Link
It's a way to separate yourself from the devastation that you are already separate from, while expressing sympathy to the victims of that devastation?
Hmm....
