In Northern Europe there was a recognition that there was a problem. They instituted quotas and have put in place laws that address women have in the workplace and in government.

I do not know how somebdoy cant recognize quotas as being bad for women that are actually knowledgeable and sexist against men.

If quotas are put in place, women often are automatically regarded as "quota-women" that know nothing about their job and were just hired to conform to them. At the same time, men that would be interested in the job get turned away because it would ruin the quotas.

Stop using that term. It's not reverse-racism either. It's sexism and racism. Prefixing it with reverse suggests that it's something different when it is not.

It's funny because he's only expressing what most of us already do, judge people by their character and not their race/sex, and feminists have a problem with that?

I'd like to point out some of the context for my statement.

For nearly every conference I've been to, I've been invited to speak on a "woman in tech"-ish type panel. I have always refused. While I think discussing specific issues can be beneficial. and while I'm certain some females have had negative experiences, if I had a dollar for every "woman in tech" type conversation I've been a part of, invited to, read, or rolled my eyes at, I'd be a very rich woman.

I know for a fact that some of the loudest women about this issue are not actually contributing anything anywhere other than their excessive blog hits calling out supposed offenses by men in tech. For anyone that doesn't know me, I'm automatically lumped into this group. Men have been afraid to have technical conversations with me because they are afraid that if they disagree with me, I'll accuse them of being sexist and dismissive, because this is the experience they have had.

Yes, there are sexist people out there. Yes, that is a problem. But I don't think this problem is approached in the right way at all. That's what I refuse to be a part of, and what I will continue to speak out against as long as I have a voice. So much so that I'm listed as an incident on the geek feminism wiki.

It makes me happy that MRMs don't harass feminists like this. Despite how crazy and hateful they may be, we still respect freedom of speech.

Its difficult though, because feminists do violently harass people who don't agree with them, and this is a perfect example.

It means we aren't fighting an ideology of logic or reason, but one of extreme bias and societal conformation.

I've said it time and time again, feminist hate any area of disproportionate males because they feel they are being left out. Like some club that is so cool, but they can't get in. It drives them nuts knowing men are content in a place without women. It is also amusing the level of apathy men have for any all woman's organization, group, or gathering. Feminists are mad that men don't care about what they do or where they are. They have to make things very uncomfortable or downright destroy institutions for men to say anything and it is usually along the lines of logic and reason. Feminists take any reaction after poking the fire all night and scream, "Sexist!!!!"......like small children pushing the envelope to get attention.

I'm concern with the feminist take over of tech and Hacker News. I have seen many feminist comments on HN and some BS like Patriarchy theory, check your privilege etc. It would be great if some of the more patient and experienced MRA could keep an eye on HN comments. Feminist pops up on HN every time there is a discussion on gender or discrimination.

The Hacker News post didn't get completely removed but I'm not finding it on the first couple of pages.

I think HN admins are censoring some of the articles which will generate flame wars... It's also possible that some HN admins are Feminists.

I suspect the majority of Feminists in tech are male.

In the 90s I got at least a dozen death threats and lost several jobs due to my MRA activities. These days, I just get a lot of spam. Either I'm doing something wrong or things are getting less bad.

I think Michael Savage actually coined the term, feminazi. Regardless, I just checked and the feminazi.com site I put up for a buddy is still there.

I don't think I neccessarily buy his argument.

If a woman just says "That guy treats me disrespectfully" she's not going to get the same attention as "That guy treats me disrespectfully because I'm a woman". I dont' think it's out-of-bounds to say the second statement.

I hate too bring this up because it's used so often but think of the civil rights movement and african-americans. They wouldn't have gotten anywhere if they just left race off the table and tried to deal with it as individuals.

Now the problems arises when the sympathy for female victims of sexism goes way overboard and that results in 1. Men getting in trouble for things that even most women would think was harmless 2. Some women taking advantage of this (it's just how nature/capitalism works, if there's a weakness people will exploit it) i.e the sexism card.

I could agree with some of his points, but he threw in the word "offensive" three times across the relatively short blog post. I can only speculate that he has no sense of objective right or wrong, and must instead describe things in relation to his feelings.
