Thank you. We support women too!
But you're right, there are a lot of things that need to be fixed for men at the moment, that are generally ignored.
[–][deleted] 42 points43 points44 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
<3 support should go both ways. Sadly it doesn't.
[–]fengpi 26 points27 points28 points 8 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
"mens health issues are already taken care of'.
Heh, did the individual in question even bother to check that to see if it was true? Such people are boneheaded enough to be safely ignored at any rate.
I know that there is a belief out there that "if mehh-yehhhn could get Chick Disease X, there'd be a cure for it!" and the obvious riposte to that would be "prostate cancer." But, hey, there's no use in adducing obvious counter-evidence.
Your sincere concern speaks well of you.
[–][deleted] 25 points26 points27 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
My favourite part was that when I asked her what made her think that men's health was taken care of, she sent me a link to "Men's Health" the magazine.
[–]Lethn 12 points13 points14 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
LOL That just confirms what we've known all along, that these people think virtue signalling equates to action, considering their attitude towards free speech and thinking that speech is 'violent' this isn't at all surprising.
[–]CosmicPaddlefish6 points 8 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
Of course, if men's health was all taken care of, then why would there even need to be a magazine dedicated to it? By this logic, women's health is already 100% taken care of because of how much resources are dedicated to it.
[–]fengpi 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Oh, of course. It's right there on the magazine cover! Sort of like those MAGA hats.
So do all the "women's clinics" out there in the world count for nothing? Or are those death factories, perhaps?

Hmm, guess it's all taken care of for everybody now.

What a relief
[–]fengpi 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
That is a far better rejoinder.
[–]CosmicPaddlefish 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
It reminds me of the argument "If men could get pregnant, abortion would be sacrosanct." This is obviously a fallacious argument because men have no reproductive rights whatsoever.
[–]fengpi 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It's not merely fallacious, there is simply no reason to believe it. Child custody for fathers is not sacrosanct, nor are men granted immediate ownership over test tube embryos which use their sperm, etc.

On behalf of a woman
You don't need to apologizes for other people being cunts. Don't let bad women represent you, your a good person.
[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Thank you :)
[–]Lethn 14 points15 points16 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Don't apologise, if you weren't one of the man-haters smugly acting the way you describe then you've got nothing to be ashamed of. Now feminists on the other hand who let these people run amok or even actively encourage them have a lot to answer for.
[–]RapeMatters 15 points16 points17 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You don't have to apologize for other women. Women are not a hive-mind, and each woman is responsible for her own attitude in the same way each man is.
All I ask is that you keep trying. The only way this gets better is if we all keep talking, trying, convincing, and helping.

mens health issues are already taken care of
Sadly I've also been told this when trying to bring up men's health issues. And this was by someone who works in the medical/health field. The ignorance is painful.
[–]jeff_the_nurse 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Thank you, but don't be angry. Stay calm, and we'll be respected more!
[–]Blutarg 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Thank you. Keep fighting the good fight.
[–]Aeternalis_ 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Thank you for doing what you can for us.
[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I'm trying my best. Feels like you're talking to a brick wall sometimes when you try talk about mens issues.
[–]iamtigerthelion 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The current narrative is that women have it worse (as if it's a zero sum game) despite the evidence to the contrary, and as long as that narrative remains, we can't expect anything to change.
[–]UNLIKELYME 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Women and men aren't two antagonistic classes. It's just a narrative to say they are.
[–]vexorum 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Don't feel bad. It's not your fault. Thank you for showing your sympathy. Perhaps you can set an example. Don't give up.
[–]Pinuspalustris 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Your empathy is greatly appreciated. Your rage too. But don't feel like you need to apologize on behalf of yourself or women in general. You aren't responsible for these problems and women in general aren't either.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Thank you. I was just trying to raise awareness and it was very sad the attacks I got back.
[–]factsenrageyou 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Thank you. It's good to know there are exceptions to the rule. I fear that you and those like you won't matter, because it's already too late.
[–]Zerabus 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Well the fact that I've tried to kill myself multiple times clearly shows that men are being taken care of
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I hope you're feeling much brighter now. Keep fighting the good fight.
[–]Zerabus 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Thanks
[–]cld8 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Thanks for the concern, and do try and raise these discussions. I believe that people will take men's issues more seriously if they are raised by a woman.
[–]Dembara 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Thank you very much for your support! I wouldn't say we (men) are worse off everywhere, I am sure there are some difficulties women suffer that men don't suffer as much. There certainly are in other parts of the world. But what I care about are the legal rights and treatment which we measurably lack.
As others have said, you do not need to apologize for other's wrong doings. Just because people who share your sex have done bad things, doesn't mean anything about you or even your sex as a whole. Same is true for men. Focus on doing right by the world in anyway you can, and who cares what others do or think. What matters is helping others and getting others to help.
IF you need any suggestions on what you can do, the fine people of this sub would be happy to help!
Also, I still find it peculior that no one finds it odd if a man is a woman's rights advocate, but they express shock that anyone, much less a woman would be a men's rights advocate. I suspect it is because they can easily dismiss men as being selfish and reactionary to women having rights (which we are not, I consider myself a woman's rights advocate as well as men's rights advocate, as it is necessary to be both to be a human rights advocate). Then a woman comes along and says the same thing and they can't just dismiss it from their sex, so they come up with things like "internalized misogyny" so they can claim that those women just hate themselves and are against women having rights.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I think I'm personally just a bit upset, because women have feminism and that's awesome, but it's gotten so big and overwhelming that men's issues are often ignored and seen as "less serious". I do agree that women have issues too, and I hope I wasn't coming across that way.
The only way I think I can assist at the moment is starting a conversation, but is there other, more proactive ways too? I'd love to know.
[–]Dembara 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I don't think having feminism is really the way to go. I don't think we should make women's rights or men's rights ideologies in that way, but I get what you mean.
There are lots of things you can do. You can help out with various organizations that promote men's issues (there are a bunch in the US, like Intact America for a more specific one or NCFM for a broader group, and there are also a number elsewhere like CAFE in Canada). Starting conversations is very helpful (though you should be careful not to come off as overly preachy or else people won't want to listen to you). You also can look into events or organizing an event. A lot of figures in the MRM are very responsive (like the Honey Badgers or Warren Farrell, among many others) so you can also contact them if you have anything you'd like to do.

Female here too.....I love you lmao I have literally stopped talking to all my female friends because they are so far gone with their psychotic bullshit. They call it feminism, but it's not about equality at all. I'm glad to see there are some women left that take responsibility for themselves. Too many women want to play the victim and have everything handed to them. They'd rather claim discrimination than put in hard work for what they want. These crazy ass militant feminists are literally teaching little girls that they are owed something because they were born with a vagina. Sorry for the rant, I get really heated everytime I think about it!!
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I love you too let's be friends!
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

[–]Whitified 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
awww
Lol you'd be surprised to learn how hard it is to find lady friends who don't think they're opressed and owed something from men.
[–]Macheako[🍰] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
We'll be fine chick. Thanks for the concern, but if you really care, dont waste your time telling us, SHOW the men in your life you do care.
Do what ya can, while ya can. What other chances at this life are ya gonna have ;)

Love the post, but I am wondering if you could provide some specific examples of how education is taught in a way to benefit females. I've asked this question before and gotten some pretty vague answers.
I ask because I'm a teacher and I really try to be egalitarian in my approach and want to make sure I'm not doing anything that hinders either sex's education. Thanks.
For sure. I'm on my phone so I can't provide some links. When I get to my laptop I can try find some if you're still interested. I'm also a teacher :)
Boys are more likely to suffer dyslexia, and therefore can be left behind in reading activities.
Men/Boys often struggle with the idea of sitting down and completing textbook work. Many would prefer to be doing hands on activities (such as, learning how to change a battery), but because of how education is structured (tests/exams on core subjects) this does not favour some men.
There's plenty of journals and books on How Boys and Girls learn differently. I can provide some I like to you. Boys is education is a messy topic, but it is evident that they are getting to short stick
This obviously doesn't apply to all, but it does for a large majority of boys.
Sorry for the walk of text!
[–]Volcanic-Penguin 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Thanks for caring!
Reading these comments puts it even more into perspective. So many men saying you don't have to apologize for the actions of other women, since we're not all man hating assholes. This versus almost every female I used to be friends with, who are adamant that all men are rapists. Apparently if they've never raped, it's just a matter of time until they do,so they should all be locked up or put underground. No, bullshit, I couldn't even make this shit up. It's sad and so fucked up.

Thank you for having unbiased sympathy. I feel similarly in that gender is immaterial for things that screw people over and that suffering is not a zero sum game. I also read twox and feel a lot of sympathy for women as well.
[–]DuelFan 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Thanks for your concern. Hopefully one day we will achieve equity for all, no matter their race, religion, and/or gender!
[–]Rethgil 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
What sort of behaviour did you see from women who objected? Have you found feminists to be worse? I'd be interested to know how they react as its useful for us to know as we often face such mindless thug like abuse.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I found that woman on this issue are mainly ignorant, and unwilling to learn. Because of the massive amounts of information that feminism provides to its supporters, they often have arguments (valid or invalid) at their disposal.
That's only my experience though.

you're angry cos mens issues managed to make you emotional
Pity the ones whose plight can't even cause emotions in others.
