And a week ago I considered myself a feminist too. On the 28th of January I was reading a Cracked article about the Woman's March on Washington, while I was reading the comments section, and making fun of conservatives, I came across a comment that I thought had to be made up. It about how Donna Hylton was convicted of kidnapping, torture, and murder of a man in the 1985. So I decided to do some more research and low and behold I found this subreddit and an article confirming that she did in fact commit those horrendous crimes.

I decided to read the FAQ for the subreddit. I figured I'd read it and be done in 5 minutes and leave this anti-woman group with a bad taste in my mouth. Five hours later and I finally finished. (I wanted to be thorough and I have a very short attention span.) I realized that I agreed with nearly every point and had since I was much childhood.

That being said I'm still a little apprehensive about this whole thing. When I come to the front page I see many (mostly conservative) posts that I disagree with, it makes me feel as though the movement may not accept me and my liberal philosophy.

Don't get me wrong I don't think that conservatives should remain silent or be silenced, but it's such a big change that it makes me nervous. I realize now that I may have let myself get to comfortable in my bubble of liberalism. I didn't read dissenting opinions because I didn't think they mattered. I see now how wrong I was.
