It actually does happen with the men...I think it's more of the obscurity of the sport. Since no one really hears about it...there isn't as much of a public outcry. Hell...most people don't know what a majority of the male professional soccer players do with their offtime.

It's alright. At the very least her nudes leaked and we now know that she has an old roast-beef-esque vagina. She's been punished enough. The jokes will be told for years to come.

But seriously, it is a shame that she doesn't face the same stigma that AP or Rice got with their situations. And I will never buy another Nike product again. If you're going to drop athletes who don't represent your brand well, you need to be consistent.

It's not US Soccer--it's the US Public. The public allows this. If it weren't for the media shitstorm, the NFL could not have cared less about Ray Rice's DV scandle. The public drove that, and the lack of care gives US Soccer the sanction to ignore this.

I don't think she should have penalties in the soccer league, what she does that is unrelated to soccer should stay like that. Losing sponsorships and stuff is fine, because that is all voluntary, but this has nothing to do with soccer, so her punishment shouldn't either. Same thing with the NFL penalties; they are rediuclous and have nothing to do with the sports they play.

Well Ray Rice was banned for defending himself against his abusive girlfriend, so I think its fair to say yes.

Women are usually the abusive, spiteful creatures, the fact gentle giants like Ray Rice and other men are often driven to use force to deal with out of control women should not be used to demonize them.

What about the publicity factor though? Yeah, Solo's case got attention--but women's soccer is hardly as popular as the NFL. Consider this: if the NFL were a lower-profile organization, would they have felt as compelled to suspend Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson?

The War Machine MMA case is also comparable--in truth, it's arguably a much more egregious and violent crime than those committed by Rice, Peterson, or Solo. Did that garner the same attention in the mass media? No, because MMA fighters aren't as famous as NFL stars. You have to take all factors into account--it's more than just gender at play here.

No but they should. Infact I don't think that someone's personal life should ever affect their work life. Pretty much why we don't fire gay people. Not really comparable other than both of these things have nothing to with work.

You could argue the public eye angle but I'm not into that kind of discrimination, but then I have never had an interest in celebrity, I leave interests such as that to children.

If you think about it, if you want to make a violent person more violent, or even a non violent person, take away everything they have.

Now if a person's personal beliefs affect their work, sure fire them. The only legal discrimination in the UK is political belief. You can fire people for their political beliefs. Not a lot of people know that.
