So basically what happened was this: Women wanted equality, which is fine. But this got tangled up with the role of feminism, at least implicitly, as a lobby for women.

Against this backdrop, feminism pushed through reforms - but in many cases only to the extent that women stood to benefit. In other words, no push for extending the draft to women and resistance to shared custody and spousal alimony (at least in the Anglo world after NOW dropped their support for these issues as the radical feminists of the 70s grew up and found themselves in positions where they stood to benefit from these traditional privileges).

At the same time, it was difficult to harmonise the cry for equality with explicit sexism in law. So alimony and child support and college admissions quotas were made gender neutral. That was fine, as from the perspective of the 70s, it was hard to think that women did not stand to benefit overwhelmingly compared to men.

Fast forward to now. In Sweden, most people who suffer from university admissions quotas are women - in some cases, overwhelmingly so: women have to perform much better than men to access female-dominated fields of study such as psychology and veterinary school.

This is very hard for women to stomach. This is not only because they are selfish, but because it is such a contrast to how they were brought up. Pay for a man you are not married to anymore? Above and beyond child support? I agree it is bizarre, but that is more because permanent (temporary I think is acceptable for stay at home spouses that need some time to establish themselves in the labour market; and of course divorces that take place close to retirement age with non-working spouses should not leave the latter destitute) alimony is such an anachronism. It assumes wholesale that one gender is incapable of working full-time and supporting themselves.

Even more bizarrely, in many cases alimony creates incentives not to work, as additional income reduces your right to alimony, and not to marry again. How is that good for.... basically anyone?

This whole idea women have where they feel that because people in the past with their sexual organs has suffered this pain that it means they need to enjoy the revenge as if they are tied together through the centuries.

First of all they weren’t there and secondly they don’t even know if they did in fact suffer whatever injustice they feel they did.

But let’s say that it’s true, that women were slaves and had it so bad, how the hell does that then equate to then women today getting to enjoy the revenge for those women in the past. Makes no sense.

So because women had to work and cook and men had to pay alimony after a divorce, she now feels that she shouldn’t pay it since women in the past suffered😂🤡
