It's great (on paper). Women won't need to "sacrifice" their lifes, uterus and bodies anymore. Men will eventually be able to have children without being scared to get them ripped away by a rigged justice system. Now beware about the law of unintended consequences....

I expect they'll try to throw up roadblocks to single men trying to use it. Similar to how many countries outlaw surrogacy, and even some where it is legal have restrictions against single men using it.

the "incels" and "nice guys" no longer need to simp and beg women to marry them if they want to be a father.

and women will no longer be pressured to get pregnant and have kids.

a win-win for both genders actually.

I think artificial wombs will bring about universal "legal parental surrender" aka financial abortion laws. Right now women have abortion rights, safe haven laws, and the ability to put infants up for adoption without disclosing the fathers identity. If embryos could be removed from a woman and implanted in an artificial womb during an abortion, then women would need LPS to not be forced into parental responsibilities so men might get some rights too

I think giving birth or reproducing at all is unethical, but from a rights standpoint between men and women, and the power dynamics involved, this is a positive.

Edit: Also once the laws do come out to try and stop single men from using them while allowing single women to, this will at least bring to light a very blatant sexist thing for the world to see and debate. People just assume men are the abusers and women are not because it has been pounded into their heads for decades. Now that the world is more globally involved politically and the internet exists, these policies should show some very obvious hypocrisy and possibly dredge up old laws that were passed that discriminate against fathers that were put into place in various countries throughout the decades preceding modern technology and globalization.

What your referring to is transhumanism. I’m not a fan of it. I believe it will be used for exploitation. It beings existential arguments to the forefront however.

Its more of a transhumanist idea, in an utopia they'll be used for good, in a dystopia they'll be used by goverment to farm worker drones.
We're living way closer to a dystopia.
So theres a huge chance a lot of people (women due to losing a lot of power cause of it, religious people,etc) will press against it initially, and gov will kinda of "ban" it.
But then, when there will be technology avaliable to restructure brains of fetuses and adults alike (for example making them absolutely loyal, aggresive with no self preseravation instincts) , with reliable results, they'll start producing worker drones and soldiers, completely infertile, and in a way, without humanity, majority of those parts of the brain will be shut down, or straight up removed by DNA and technological manipulation, which can potentially with some more bio/and non-bio engineering required,make that those people wont need sleep ( better removal of toxins, or just putting left/right side of brain to sleep while the other is awake) so the gov can control 100% of lives of those beings.
DNA will likely be assembled from 100s of people using something similar to KRISPER, so there will not be fathers or mothers, only dna donors. Only the el!tes will remain naturally evolved humans, tho, not for long, likely will get organs replaced with vat grown with better performance (think of kidneys with high tolerance of alcohol,very,very strong hearts, etc).
In an utopia it'd make humanity thrive (no cancer,easy and cheap organ replacements, no problems with abortion),but we live in a reality and it'll be our downfall.
For some time it might be beneficial but unless society undergoes total changes, it'll end in the downfall of humanity, it'll be one of the most terrible ones, imagine billions of people who dont need sleep, who simply cant think cause their brains were stripped of those parts,who work 20 or more hours a day,with countless rows of vats growing workers, super soldiers fighting wars, etc.
It'll be one of the worst possible scenarios that dont include human extinction.

I think this idea vastly underestimates the complexity of human development. The problem won't be keeping a fetus alive in a machine, but we'll likely never fully understand or reproduce the chemical, hormonal, and environmental (voice, movement, etc.) elements of carrying a fetus to term. Premature babies already suffer a laundry list of problems from spending a month in an incubator, which is technology we've been working on for a century.

It's sick, and an abomination. It will allow for trans people who aren't really what they claim they are, to have babies
