So I’m starting to get past the point of no return with debating people. I think the school system has massively failed multiple generations of kids, with many also being ignorant to the world before them.

I’ve just had a debate with a feminist that the Uk has never been a gender divided nation but a class one. All the points she made about schooling, parenting, ownership and civil liberties are outweighed when you look at the wider society. You cannot argue that women didn’t get the vote till 1900s which shows the country was oppressive to women, but then disregard that for the same amount of time, men under the age of 21 who didn’t own a house or land also couldn’t vote.

They consistently bring up the suffragettes, yet fail to recognise that the suffragettes were protesting and fighting for their right to vote, divorced/widowed middle to upper class women of privilege. They didn’t give a shit about the working class men or women who also couldn’t vote. If you’d have fought in the Boer war at 18 and got medically discharged from the army at 20, came back to the Uk as a working class man you still couldn’t vote.
