I'm going to say something funny in Brazil. The entity responsible for statistics on domestic violence requires that only cases of violence against children, the elderly, and women be reported by the police stations. This makes it appear that women are the main victims of domestic violence. Now it gets thicker, men are in the lead with a lot of space ahead of women in terms of general violence. So statistically they are the ones who suffer the most from domestic violence, but here we will never really know, as the person responsible for this information creates a "favorable" environment for women.

And how can not stop there. Here, due to sexist laws, a man who ends up in the ICU is less serious than a woman who is slapped. Here the penalty for a crime committed by a woman is lesser just for being a woman, and a crime committed against a woman has aggravations.

And as if all this is not enough, in 2021 a law that opens a huge loophole for anything to become a crime against women was approved. In direct translation: Law 14188 of 2021 also includes in the Penal Code the crime of psychological violence against women, to be attributed to those who cause emotional harm "that harms and disturbs their full development or that seeks to degrade or control their actions, behaviors, beliefs and decisions ”. A fews days after this law, news came out of lawyers wanting to use this law because the boyfriend broke up with the girl. And as all this is not enough.

Now they are trying to pass a new law, in which it decriminalizes false accusations of rape, something that has happened a lot here in the last few years, and in 99% of cases when the farce is found the woman is not penalized.

I just saw a post about parking spots for females near entranses for safety. Isn't this kinda sexist since men get raped, robbed and assaulted too. I just think we should make the whole area safer instead of making parking places safer just to females.

Mostly because there’s a disconnect between the people who want to end domestic violence and those that want to build a sustainable charity on top of it.

The ones that want to build charities on top of it spend money to make women look as much like a damsel in distress as they can so that they can collect more money from chivalrous people.

It’s mainly because of generalizing (obviously) in societies eyes since men are usually the ones killing other men the male victims are not seen as victims since in their eyes they’re just as responsible for the killing because they are men. It’s disgusting.

On third of interpartner violence is women hitting men. As someone said above, DV is a multi-billion dollar industry selling women good...you get the house and the kids, and men bad...you go to jail and your relationship with your children is toast.

Because the implication is that men should be able to take care of themselves.

There is also a public shaming of men who are victims in any way, to the point where reporting male victims is akin to shaming them even further.

Because feminists have a monopoly in the media about violence, and they say that domestic violence has nothing to do with the patriarchy, so it's no where near as bad as violence against women. Therefore, violence against men is no where near as important as violence against women.

Because it doesn't hurt. A woman can't hurt me. Most men are not hurt and could easily handle a girl. Not that it's right, it's just biology.
