because i grew up with physical, emotional and sexual abuse at the hands of feminists because I am male, and im far from the only one so why i would want to claim to be part of a movement that has caused so much pain and hate would be insane.

Because radical feminism is one of the main obstacles of the MRM, you can't expect a men's rights movement to ally itself with a group that has high ranking, high powered members who advocate for the killing of all men.

Egalitarianism on the other hand....

Because feminists usually don't care enough about men to help alleviate the discriminations they suffer. Or they deny that men suffer any discriminations.

No it can't. See the history of feminism, read its literature (things that are considered feminist philosophy in humanities departments), remember the actions of its advocates.

All the "we're for gender equality" talk from feminists is bait. The switch is biased domestic violence laws, reproductive rights, family law and all manner of discrimination against men.

I pity (and am even contemptuous of) any man that falls for it.

It's not the label that matters...feminists won't have anything to do with us because they can't stand the idea of men and women being held to the same level or responsibility and accountability. Before any feminists come here and say "But I believe men and women should be just as responsible and accountable". You're not a feminist, you're an egalitarian who calls themselves a feminist.

That's why. It does not include Men's Rights. In fact it often works against them, as we well know. Though this does not preclude sympathy with some of their goals.

"Feminist" or "Masculinist" (not sure that's the proper term) is a misnomer here. The term 'egalitarianist' would be the best, IMO. The MRM is not the antithesis of the radical feminist movement, we don't aim to elevate men to a level above women. Our goal is for equality. Proper, absolute, no fakesies egalitarianism.

I liken the radical feminist movement to the book "Animal Farm". What started as a movement for equality quickly became what they were fighting against, in reverse.

I am not a sexist bigot who has a religious belief in "Patriarchy" and wants endless privleges for the female sex with endless responsitibilities imposed upon the male sex. That's my main reason.

It's all in the social connotations. I consider myself a socialist. Do you know what that gets me most of the time?

"So....Like.....You believe no one should own their stuff?"

"Why do you hate America? We proved Communism was bad in the Cold War, when we kicked Russia's ass!"

"Oh! So what did you think of Karl Marx and the Communist Manifesto?"

At this point I either walk away, or I explain to them I did not say I was communist. I said I was socialist. "Well what's the difference herp derp?!". And then if I'm feeling patient I say "communism is a subset of socialism.". But most often no one knows what the word "subset" means either.

What does any of this have to do with Feminism? A fair bit. The second I said I was socialist, you'll notice, automatically I'm supposed to be a drab uniform wearing, hammer and sickle wielding, pinko Stalin worshipper. Even though I never said anything about communism. And most people never get that all communists are socialists, but not all socialists are communists.

It's the same with Feminism. People automatically assume that Feminism means I unquestionably wish to advance female gender over the male. Even though the feminist movement was never supposed to be about that (it sure as hell is now) and I do not believe any such thing.

It's ridiculous. But that's how much people attempt to over-simplify, and why I never identify myself as a feminist. The civil rights movement even tanked to this sort of bullshit, but I suppose that's another conversation for another day.
