Yeah, if you're going to plan to get too drunk to drive, take an Uber to the bar instead. Otherwise you're paying gas 2 ways and uber 2 ways.

Yeah and next time you leave your car in the garage, but someone breaks in and you get told that you should just have bought a better security system or that you shouldn't have bought such an expensive car in the first place.

The thing is that no matter how many precautions women take they can become a victim of rape.

Most women already take all the precautions they can take without having their life be restricted too much. They don't need someone that has no clue how it is to be a women tell them what they should have done differently.

You tell them that they shouldn't dress like sluts, but then they get raped even though they dress moderately.

You tell them that they shouldn't be out at night, but then they get raped during the day.

You tell them that they shouldn't go home alone and they start to take cabs, but then their taxi driver takes advantage of them.

You tell them that they shouldn't hang out with dangerous people, but then they get raped by someone that appears nice and gets respected in his community.

You tell them that they shouldn't get drunk and shouldn't be going to parties, but then they stay at home and their brother rapes them.

Telling rape victims what they should have done is useless. They already blame themselves and feel a lot of shame and regret. The scenario haunts them every night and they've been running it through their head a thousand times. Even girls that got raped by their fathers when they were 3 years old will blame themselves for it and will think about all the things they could have done differently.

You may think that you solved the problem and that you are a absolute genius, but you are still not qualified to give advice to them. It's better to let people that understand what they are talking about and that can empathize with women give them advice which is already happening. It's what their mothers, female friends, female oriented media and their common sense and experience tell them already so there is no need for keyboard warriors to come in and tell them things they already know.

Sure, women could just stay locked in their basement all their life if they never want to be raped, but that's no way to live. If you want to have an enjoyable life you've got to take risks. You can't be on your toes 24/7 and sometimes you've just got to try to trust someone, because otherwise you couldn't ever make friends or find a partner.

And they already give their best to weed out potentially dangerous partners seeing as how good their creep radars are, but no matter what you do there are always manipulative psychopaths that manage to not show any subtle hints of danger.

You are assuming that women are always responsible for their rape and seem to be excusing the behavior of rapists.

Of course the guy was partaking in risky and unnecessary behaviors. Of course he could have taken actions to reduce the risk of having his car stolen. That doesn't excuse the theif though. It doesn't somehow make his choice to steal a car acceptable or even better.

Rape and theft are not comparable. Compare rape to violent bodily assault. When men are violently assaulted at night clubs, no one blames them for being at the night clubs. Drinking culture might be discussed, but no one is like, 'wtf was that dude doing out on the town?! Of/c he got glassed, being out on the town is dangerous and he was drunk".

No. Just no. You are comparing two things that should not be compared. There are better parallels. Sex is not something that a rapist steals from a woman. Sex is something intimate shared between two people. Rape is violent bodily assault that makes one person very, very aware of the fact that they have no autonomy.

Just as with the actual question you are really asking, I would not blame you for being robbed, but I would be able to offer some strong points on how it could have been prevented, and could be prevented in the future, and have it be a cautionary tale to others as to why they should be careful about that sort of thing.

1) I'm not sure, probably just tell them to get a cheaper car next time. In my opinion, that's a waste of money. It sounds like they're pretty rich, and probably not a concern of theirs, though.
