You still have to deal with the pot belly that comes with age, sagging man boobs even with normal BMI, sagging balls, less firm erections and potential ED, old man smell, large pores and bad skin, age spots, arthritis, prostate issues so balding is really the least of your problems.

We've made a lot more progress in "curing" and preventing skin wrinkles than we have baldness. Safe to assume that by the time baldness is cured, aging skin will be as well.

Older people have been gradually and continuously more able to delay signs of aging and staying attractive longer. No reason to think that will stop. A decrease in balding probably won't tilt the scales as much as you think.

the vast majority of surface level physical aging will eventually be cured to some degree, those that impact both men and women, so the smv of both will be in constant readjustment. there has been a cure for baldness coming "in just a few years" for decades now, so who knows when or if it'll actually happen

sidenote, i think older guys tend to have reaallly shitty skin up close? women's skin tends to become papery and thin and easily wrinkled, but guys skin becomes tough, discolored, textured in a way that is so gross up close. that to me is part of what makes older dudes so unappealing

the thing that makes both older men and older women unappealing can't be attributed to just one trait or a few traits. the INNATE glow of youth and virility is what escapes these people, and no amount of scalp hair is gonna change that.

I can't put my finger on a number, but a lot of men look perfectly fine with a shaved head. For most guys, the drop in SMV is due to weight gain. There is, of course, a cure for this but lifestyle and metabolism make it more and more of a challenge as you age. I should lose weight, but my biggest "tell" at this point is bags and wrinkles under my eyes. I don't think I can get rid of those without surgery.

Hair loss is one of the things that makes men sexually repulsive as they age but I don't believe it's the worse thing: Grey hair, moobs, saggy skin, bad skin/sweat odor (can only be masked with things that almost smell as bad), saggy balls, loss of muscles etc are all things that makes men sexually undesirable.

'Will baldness be solved?' is subtly but significantly different from 'Baldness will be solved'.

To some extent it can be solved now. If you catch it early enough, have several hair transplants, and take finasteride for the rest of your life, then you can retain a full head of hair even if you're genetically balding. Even if you're already bald, in some cases it is possible to transplant enough hair to replace what has gone.

The downside is that taking drugs has side-effects, it's expensive to have this treatment, and some guys cannot afford it at all, results aren't guaranteed and vary from one person to another, and in some cases there is a limit to what can be achieved.

The only way to truly solve baldness would be to reverse the genetic process that causes baldness, or eliminate this gene completely. Otherwise, no matter how good any cure for baldness may be, you will continue to lose hair whatever happens, although this can be managed to some extent with drugs.

Whether there will be an effective gene therapy down the line I do not know, but I do know that it will be expensive if and when it is developed.

By the time men (on average, not including the ones that go bald exceptionally early) are old enough to go bald women are either all paired off, or have reached menopause, so men's SMV won't matter cause there will be no one who wants to have sex with them anyway. Unless they want to try to compete with much younger men in age groups with lots of single women, but they won't stand a chance against someone who's 2 decades younger because as much as men like to deny it, they also hit a "wall" where they are no longer able to attract younger women through sex appeal. All they'll be able to get at that age is sugar babies, and you don't need looks to get those.

no, you are vastly overestimating the importance of man's hair. you should try buzzing all your hair off sometime (it will grow back). you'll realize that having a certain hairstyle os not nearly as important as you think it is to your SMV or to your own identity.

it's like everything else - a small number of women will be completely turned off by a guy with a shaved head, a small number of women basically fetishize it, but the majority are going to be somewhere in the middle - if everything else about you is attractive, they will like your shaved head, but if everything else about you is unattractive and gross and weird, they will think your shaved head is creepy

yes, girls do like when a guy has a long thick luxurious head of hair, but it's not an absolute requirement except for a very small percentage of women. and guess what, most non-balding guys don't have a long luxurious head of hair. it's better to have nice looking shaved head than a goofy, awkward looking, unstylish haircut.

thinning/bald hair is a relatively minor issue compared to other things that hurt a much greater number of older dudes like being fat and out of shape, having gross leathery skin, or acting like a dumbass boomer.

if an older guy has his shit together in every possible way except his hair is balding, then he will still do well as long as he doesn't do something really retarded like having a weird combover haircut or wear a toupee or something like that.

Wrinkles make teen idol/pretty boys/feminine guys hit the wall pretty hard too. 18-24 year old guys look way hotter than 30s guys (including me). I got more flirting and positive attention in 2009 than I do now.

I do agree for guys who go bald (especially young) it's an even steeper wall. But at least you can get something like Hair Club for Men to cover it up, you can't hide facial lines without expensive plastic surgery.

It won't affect the SMP much because most men won't maintain low body fat and lots of muscles and most couples meet when young. Also, I doubt treatments to delay a woman's skin sagging will be far behind treatments to really prevent/reverse baldness in men.

Is baldness really so common. Nearing 50, I've never even had my hair thinning. Still need a haircut and hair thinning about every two months a least. Nails and beard are also growing the same as always. Same with my brothers and all the other men in my family. Don't really see a lot of bald med on the streets either. Or when I meet my old friends of the same age.

And its not even that bald on a guy looks particular bad. Can look pretty manly.
