For the last three years I've been a bit of a big fish in a small pond. I'm one of my little town's more visible and most well paid citizens (not saying much). I'm acknowledged in a deferential way on a regular basis. Have to admit that this is feels good. My little daughters think its pretty cool that "everyone" knows me.

TRP talks a lot about the importance of being high status. However, they usually seem to be talking about status in the dating market as opposed to status in one's community. So I was wondering: (1) Does status in the community matter to women or do they just look at the size of a guys wallet and/or his appearance? And, (2) is it common for guys to forgo monetary reward for a position with higher status in their community?
