My impression is, TRP tactics are OK at what they were specialized for: getting quick, easy, superficial one-off casual sex and maybe even maintaining a mid-length relationship that's somewhat stable, but shallow and is not based on shared values, an emotional connection or anything like that.

I true that it's an explicitly male strategy, created by people who thought that the wide-spread culture didn't serve their interests. (And I don't know if that's the right idea. What about the hookup culture on campuses? Doubt they self-identify as TRP.) But with how affluent, but lonely life is for modern urban professionals I dunno how valuable this approach is to you. Why not just hire an escort, if that's your goal? About 2-3% of men do that. (Interesting, if there is data on what's the percentage of men who buy sex versus the percentage of men who follow the TRP advice for hookups.)

The win-win or long-term relationships isn't close to what this tactic was created for, so it doesn't do that. Here you are entering the territory of the more traditional thinking about relationships, which empathize reciprocity and all that.

Lastly, your question... People universally want recognition and praise, and most want to convince others that their view is good, and they may want to share it. I imagine it also applies to redpillers, even if trying to do this too much is discouraged by their "most holy scripture".

This reminds me of conversations I’ve had about how it’s poor manners to discuss money, and I get met with “what? I’m not allowed to discuss money when talking to my banker or splitting a bill?” Obviously sometimes you have to, it’s only that you shouldn’t discuss it socially. Or when RPW would ask how to be submissive to men at work, as though you should just submit to every man and not just to your spouse. Don’t DEER is referring to in a personal relationship, not to every instance under the sun. Debate is fine.

The sub is mostly gender wars, nosy questions about people's relationships, dry discussions about dating and preferences, and threads from self-pitying men about women (usually men with no flair or pill identity). I see maybe one question on the front page now that's related to TRP.

no one (who isn't a complete moron) says that you can never defend your opinion or explain anything in any context ever.

secondly, the real purpose of debate is NOT to change your opponent's mind. you're trying to persuade the audience to the debate that your arguments are better than your opponents. we're not actually trying to turn the bluepillers here into redpillers, we're putting the RP arguments out there so random lurkers will see them and have a better understanding of RP.

third, debating anti-RP people helps to refine and improve RP arguments. bluepillers can find flaws and weaknesses that will get ignored or downplayed if its a red-only circlejerk.

DEER describes an evasive squirm to avoid or escape criticism. So it's more about behavior and motivation in debate.

For example, if you are not ENTP then good faith and engaged debate isn't DEER.

But if you are ENTP then all debate is simultaneously good and bad faith so it's impossible for observers to know whether it is DEER or... something else.

There is a lot, and I'll say it again, a lot of signalling and attempted manipulation here I feel, more so than actual communication or exchange of ideas. It's not entirely that, but much of it is. Meaning that many people here consider signalling for attractiveness, dominance or to use shaming tactics their primary goal rather than candid exchange of Information.

To be entirely frank there is little gain in genuine openness in real life - but I see no harm in it on the internet. I will probably never meet any of the people on this reddit IRL, and I will never have sex with any of the women here...so I don't really care about appealing to them (well, I do now and then, and then I have to remind myself how moronic that is).

Meanwhile I am actually interested in the topics of some discussions, so...but yeah, the culture of discussion here can certainly be improved.
