I know a guy who lives in a tent on a farm. Composts everything, vegan, etc. He basically goes from farm to farm as a transient worker, by choice. Carbon footprint is probably nil, but I still wouldn't fuck him.

I have a theory called the small sacrifice theory. Not using a plastic straw is literally the smallest bear minimum thing you could do for the environment. It has been trending though, and thats because people want to feel like a good person, but don't want to give up any big commodities of modern life.

Which allows people to shame other for using plastic straw when they lease a new model car every year
(yes manufacturing society hurts the planet, we may not be the supply, but we are the demand.)

Anyways, your not taking a righteous stance against global warming by living within your means and doing so in way that tailors to your preferences.

People don't think when it comes to global warming at all. They just regurgitate what the media tells them. The 10 biggest cargo ships in the world make as much pollution as every car combined but cars bad! You need to pay your carbon taxes. If you look at what those people actually suggest to fix the problem it has 100% overlap with what they would do if it was just a scheme to increase government control and decrease personal freedom and little overlap with actually trying to fix the "problem"
