The vast majority of human beings will choose the hot person over the non-hot person, regardless of any other factor. Mostly I'm just talking about looks.

On top of that, most human beings will disrespect a nice person rather than see their kindness as relationship material.

Frustrated, not-hot men are already frustrated that women aren't liking them and they don't know why. They are told to be nice, and they only get disrespected and used further. It makes a bad situation worse. They understandably lash out.

Nobody likes niceguys™ but guys who are genuinely kind and compassionate. Like, going out of their way to help elderly folk at the grocery store (and getting nothing in return for it), not basically doing whatever a girl asks him to do in the hopes of getting a crumb of pussy. The latter is what a niceguy™ thinks makes him such a great person.
