An ex of mine was perpetually cold, even when we lived in So Cal. She'd make a point to complain about it all the time.

Without fail was the supermarket near the apartment, even when it was scorching outside. I started leaving a zip-up hoodie of hers in the back seat of my car but she never wore it.

It's like: look, we've been to this same grocery three times a month for the last five years. You know it has open refrigerators and freezers in there, plus AC. You have a jacket in my car you refuse to wear.

I just got done with a 6-month project doing a solar and backup power install on our house, which involved a lot of engineering around average electrical loads, and maximum electrical loads. Despite oversizing the system for some pretty major loads, the absolute most we can deliver for 30 seconds is 100 amps of 240v power. I was telling a friend from Florida that we were effectively downgrading from a 200A service to a 100A service, and his response was, "dude, in Florida, we all have 500A service." To my disbelief, he explained, "Air conditioning. All day, every day for months."

Ever lived in an area that gets really hot, really humid, or worse, both? Ever lived in such a place and had no AC at home? Pretty fucking miserable right?

Now imagine going into a grocery store with no AC with dozens or possibly even hundreds of other people all in there sweating and heating the place up even more. Or going to a hospital or office with no AC and all of those machines running producing even more heat and all of those people walking around with their body heat and sweat making everything worse.

I’ve been a bit taken aback at how “professional” women’s clothing has gotten less “professional” the past few years. Watch any cable news channel, and the women wear nice dresses, but it’s like all of them have bare shoulders.

This post is a prime example of how spoiled and entitled many western women are. It’s actually fucking sickening, to be quite honest. Air conditioning is a LUXURY.

Men shouldnt have to wear multiple layers of clothing in scorching heat that neccessitates air conditioning to keep us comfortable, while women are forced to bring extra layers to wrap up in during summer because its so cold inside.

I really respected my American Office’s manager.

He visited our office in Hyderabad when I was in India. It was summer. Our Indian site’s manager and HR asked us to suit up. We never owned suits. But we bought and wore it on that day of his visit. It was summer and that too it is Hyderabad. Super hot place.

We went out for team lunch, we had to wait out side of restaurant for our turn. And our US manager was just wearing casual dress. Of course it was summer. :)

He observed we were sweating, wore jackets, ties etc. He did not say a thing there.

After his stay for a week, before he left for US, he explained all in the email to HR, Cc’ing all our team- he requested HR to let colleagues wear whatever was thought comfortable. It became culture in the team and that small company that even now there is no dress code. It still remained small company but a strong one. That single email was printed and pasted on boards. Somehow it changed culture. Brought an ease in the team.

He mentioned in the email - “I don’t care the dress or hair. Beard or mustache. Give me the best software. In hot country you would not pressure guys to wear such dresses.”

There’s absolutely zero gender bias implications involving office temperature. If the boss/person controlling the thermostat is wearing more clothes, the temperature drops. If they’re wearing shorts and a t-shirt, it’ll be raised. Just wear clothing in layers similar to whoever is controlling the thermostat.
