5'11, 195, low body fat (prob. 10-12%), workout 5x/week, attractive. Finances: Paying off school debt by working hard and advancing rapidly in my career--I've increased my wage at the same company by $10/hr in less than a year. I've read a good chunk of the sidebar, but haven't finished it all.

I found this place by starting out at r/DeadBedrooms. I'm actually fairly new to reddit in general. I was frustrated that so many people in the DB forum think that the problem with dead bedrooms is just a lack of sexual compatibility. They all seem to think that high desire for sex ("HL") and low desire for sex ("LL"), or even NO desire for sex ("asexuals"), is all perfectly normal and healthy, and the only problem arises when you get 2 people together who don't match.

It's frustrating because it's completely ludicrous. I say: If you want to be in a sexual relationship (and marriage is, by definition, a sexual relationship), then you should want to have sex with the person you're in that relationship with. If you don't, you've got a problem, and likely need counseling / therapy.

I was thinking that type of reasoning would be what I would find here, since Christians (presumably) believe that sex is a good and healthy part of marriage. But instead, it seems like the emphasis here is on playing manipulative games, or adjusting your behavior based on the woman's manipulative games.

Look. I totally get that being a needy doormat beta is a turn off. I also get that there are certain things a guy can do to inhibit his woman's sexual desires (like slacking off, not taking care of his body, falling behind in finances, etc...). Likewise, there are things women can do to inhibit our sexual desire (like nagging, becoming obese, poor hygiene, etc..). But assuming that both spouses are reasonably healthy (physically, morally, and spiritually), there's no reason they shouldn't have a passionate and healthy sex life. I don't see the need for all the psychological games.

From the reading I've done in the sidebar, it seems like the assumption is that the woman is always playing those games and putting out little tests for the man. Maybe that's true. But why play along? Why not just tell her to grow up and knock it the hell off. I don't want to have to play 3D psychological chess with my wife in order for her to respect me and be sexually attracted to me. How is that healthy?

Rather than playing all these games, why not just insist that a lack of sexual desire for your spouse is a sign that you've got something deeply wrong with you. If you're reasonably healthy, masculine, and attractive, and your wife doesn't enjoy regular passionate sex with you, something is wrong. She doesn't need games. She needs therapy. She doesn't need you to out maneuver her in the 3D psychological chess of house chores / errands / favors / etc... She needs to resolve the psychological and sexual hang ups that make her incapable of a healthy sex life.

Or am I missing something?
