My boyfriend of 1 year is long distance (6 hours away from me by car). We met online and clicked immediately.

Everything was wonderful and we became official bf/gf a couple months after we started talking and before we were able to meet in person. Our in person meet ups kept getting delayed because of Covid lockdowns but we were still going strong with daily calls, facetime, phone sex etc. and kept making new plans to meet in person.

Then in February last year he went to his best friend’s birthday party (she is a girl) and ended up spending the night in bed with one of her friends. I was heartbroken and completely blindsided.

As soon as he told me he had cheated I ended it and we were broken up for several months. Finally we began talking again and met up in person then got officially back together on our third in person meet-up. They are always around 3-4 days. Due to job and studies we are still long-distance but otherwise have plans to spend a week together starting 8th February.

Obviously February is also the birthday of his best friend and he feels I’m being controlling when I don’t want him to go to her birthday party given what happened last year and the fact that the same girl he cheated on me with will be there again.

He thinks I’m unfair since he hasn’t had any other friend group for as long as this one but I don’t feel comfortable at all.

TL;DR: My boyfriend wants to go to the same Bday party where he cheated because they’re his best friends. He says I’m being controlling because I don’t want him to go.
