RPW compliments ?

My ex came round for a chat on Sunday and he said "this place is so clean - what happened to you?"

We used to live together and I was such a slob and it was awful, but that reaction when he stepped in the door really made me feel like I'm on the right track :) unfortunately there's no relationship related compliments to report cos I'm single but baby steps!!

I dunno how to put what happened into context here. It's just I feel like it belongs here.

This past weekend my SO's kids stayed with us at my house. He always has a struggle with them to get them to shower, brush their teeth and comb their hair. It just always is a battle. So before the power struggle with them started I took it upon myself to put my mom skills into action (my daughter is 15 now so I don't have this issue). With the greatest of ease I got them in and out of the bathroom and the oldest one to brush her long hair. He just looked at me with the most disbelieving look on his face like WUUUUTTTT. I think to me that was the biggest compliment he could have paid me. All the "you're beautiful"'s and the "you're amazing"'s couldn't replace that look he gave me. I think at that point he had realized that I was someone he could trust with his kids. I can't explain it like I said but I know it made my heart swell.

"I'm proud of you," is a simple one I think everybody adores hearing. It's a special treat from him.

I'm a very word oriented person and he is... well, not. The majority of compliments I get from him aren't voiced, but shown.

He gives this certain rolly-squeezy hug when I've done something he knows was hard but that he appreciates... His eyes light up in a specific way when I walk out of the bedroom wearing a pink dress (still makes me chuckle, the more traditionally feminine I dress, the happier his eyes get, to the point of comical)... When we've had a long, busy day together, he'll sometimes just stop, hold me and brush a strand of hair gently from my face. It keeps falling back and he keeps brushing it away, over and over again, so tenderly. I suppose they're not direct compliments, more signs of affection, but I feel like his actions are so much stronger than words.

-You smell good! (Since having a skincare routine, I started using a moisturizer and it smells good!)

-Hmmm fresh sheets/the room smells good! (when I clean up the room)

I don't usually get RPW related compliments so it might mean something lol I still have so much to improve!!!

This weekend while he was driving me home, he sang along to Keith Urban's 'Only You Can Love Me This Way' (he's been giving me songs every week to listen to) which lyrics I immediately associated with Be His Soft Place To Land
He loves my dresses (well when I'm wearing them, lol)
Not sure if this is a compliment, but it felt good. He mentioned how he doesn't like that I live so far away (it's just a 40 minute drive, so it could definitely be worse) because if I'd need him for anything it would take him a while to get there. The example he gave was "Well what if your pipe burst and you didn't know what to do?". I thought it was really sweet and showed his masculine/provider/fixer side. That would not have been attracted to the "I don't need no man".
I made him some deadpool-themed cupcakes this weekend and he was so proud he was taking pictures and showing them off.

I also agree with the facial expressions. For example the other day my SO went downstairs to grab something from the store so I did his dishes (we don't live together). The look on his face when he came upstairs made just that little act so much more worthwhile then he wrapped me in his arms and said "you really are amazing".

Ooh I have one, not from my SO, but I used to always make his lunch and such and his coworkers asked if I was SE Asain because my lunch making skills and general housekeeping skill he brags about.

Last night my man thanked me for being supportive which meant a lot more to me then he knows because I feel like lately I have been failing at RPW. We aren't in our ideal situation right now since we have had to move back home while he goes back to school soon and works so the situation really brings me down and I feel like most times I drag him down too. Hopefully this will help propel me even further into being a better teammate. If I kept my mouth shut and was positive more often how much more could I improve his life?

The compliments I'm getting from guys I date are different from before. They used to be focused primarily on looks, now they say more things like " I love that you smile and a lot" or "I love that I can be real with you", and the occasional "you are so different from other women" when they are enamoured. Well of course I ain't different, but it's amazing how rpw behaviour makes one stand out in the dating pool.

The best compliment though is how tight he holds me when we cuddle.

My husband said that he loves how kind I am. :) I like being thought of as kind. Sometimes I have mean, bitchy thoughts, and it makes me feel like a horrible person. So it's good to know that I'm not expressing them enough that anyone notices :P

I had a lovely surprise this morning as my man left me a love note listing some of the reasons he loves me! I teared up :) here are a few of the RPW and SFW ones I will share!

"You talk to me....not at me...we discuss..we debate and we converse..long and hard the best way"

I know this one is a little old, but I've spent the afternoon reading through all of these sweet comments!

Some compliments from my sweetheart that have stuck out to me are...

"I really appreciate your sobriety"

"You treat me like gold. I am so lucky to have you in my life and to have your love."

"You are very self aware"

I hear "You are wonderful" at least once a day.

and any compliment on my desserts!

RPW has taught me how to be much more of a giver and uplifter in my relationship and challenging myself to not take on the basic "I deserve" behavior has been so rewarding. I snagged the most amazing man!
